Elan 43 – Sailboat with Comfort and Performance
The Elan 43 is a sailboat from the Slovenian shipyard Elan Yachts, first introduced in 1989. This sailboat is known for its combination of comfort and performance, making it a popular choice among sailors seeking a pleasant sailing experience on both short and long voyages.
The current owner is selling the boat due to a lack of time. Interior renovation has been started, and a variety of equipment and spare parts are included, along with a new winter storage stand.
With sleek lines and a modern appearance that remains timeless, the Elan 43 is 43 feet (approximately 13 meters) long and about 4 meters wide. It features a wing keel (draft of 2 meters), providing good stability and efficient sailing performance. The fiberglass hull is known for its excellent sailing capabilities, and the boat is easy to handle and responsive on the helm. It strikes a good balance between comfort and performance, suitable for both relaxed cruising and competitive racing.
Below deck, the spacious and functional layout can accommodate up to six people in three cabins. It features a saloon with a dining table and lounge area, a well-equipped kitchen with all necessary amenities, a newer oven/stove, refrigerator, and sink (with hot and cold pressurized water), and two toilet/showers (one with an electric toilet).
The boat is equipped with a furling forestay, genoa, mainsail, and an additional headsail. Although older, all sails are functional and still usable. All lines are led to the cockpit, making it easy to sail with two people (or even single-handed). The entire rig was renovated at a shipyard in 2023, with some shrouds replaced and new Dyneema halyards installed.
The Elan 43 is a modern boat designed for extended stays on board, offering ample storage space throughout and good headroom, creating a spacious and comfortable living environment.
The Elan 43 is frequently used in the charter industry—and for good reason. It provides plenty of excitement and is built solidly enough to withstand the varying handling styles of different skippers.
The cockpit functions well both under sail and in the harbor. There is room for everyone around the table, and the wide side decks and large integrated swim platform invite relaxation and enjoyment—both under sail and at anchor.
