Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean” (or Cat B – whichever is appropriate)

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Heavy Duty GRP Hull Moulding, hand laid up incorporating multi axial and unidirectional reinforcements. Thickness increases progressively towards the keel area.
  • The keel box is an integral part of the hull layup and sandwich construction runs the entire length of the hull topsides.
  • Hand laid GRP sandwich construction deck using balsa core stiffening with plywood in high stress areas where fittings are positioned. The deck is bonded to the hull through the entire length and to all main bulkheads resulting in a strong and integrated unit.
  • Coppercoat (not including grounding plate and keel).
  • Teak capping rail to hull and deck joint upstand.

                           

Keel & Rudder:

  • Hydraulic lifting keel mechanism – fully retracts into hull.
  • The fixed ballast acts as a grounding plate.
  • The aerofoil shaped keel is cast iron and incorporates a stainless-steel pivot.
  • A keel control panel and gauge showing keel position is fitted at the wheel pedestal.
  • A removeable stainless-steel pin positioned to enable the keel to be locked in the “UP” or “DOWN” position.
  • Substantial skeg fitted on centreline to protect propeller and rudders when yacht is dried out.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • Yanmar 3YM30 29hp (21kW) 3-cylinder fresh water-cooled diesel engine.
  • Conventional packed gland and water lubricated shaft seal.
  • Sound deadening to engine box.
  • Removeable panels around engine box for access and maintenance.
  • Non-metallic water strainer with removeable filter.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

  • Engine hours approx. 1200.
  • Last service April 2024.

 

Propulsion & Steering:

  • Semi balanced twin rudders.
  • Featherstream feathering prop with bronze body with 3 stainless steel blades.
  • Ambassador Am10 rope cutter fitted on prop shaft.
  • Pedestal mounted steering wheel in cockpit, with hide cover.
  • Single lever engine control fitted to pedestal.
  • Emergency steering system.

  • 42Kg bowthruster with control at steering pedestal and bow.
