Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean” (or Cat B – whichever is appropriate)

 

Hull Construction:

  • The hull is built in a sandwich construction and hand-laid of multiaxial glass fibre reinforced with ISO polyester.
  • The core material is Divinycell high-density PVC foam with sealed cells that do not absorb water.
  • The bilge is reinforced with a longitudinal and transverse floor plate construction, which supports keel fittings, mast, engine frame, tanks, and cabin soles.
  • Additional reinforcements longitudinal in the hull as stringers.
  • All main bulkheads and the transverse chain plate fittings are laminated to the hull.
  • Epoxy primer beneath waterline (from new).
  • White NGA gelcoat finish with ‘Najad’ Carmine Red gelcoat style lines.
  • The hull is top coated internally.

 

Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • The deck and superstructure are built on the same principles as the hull.
  • Teak laid deck with additional teak laid on superstructure forward and aft of cockpit.
  • Teak-capped bulwark with stainless steel rubbing strake and additional stainless-steel protection adjacent to mooring cleats.
  • Teak laid cockpit seating with solid teak-grate cockpit sole.
  • Teak-laid bathing platform steps inset to transom with stainless steel bathing ladder.
  • Teak deck recalked (2014).

 

Keel & Rudder:

  • Lead fin keel with acid-resistant stainless-steel bolts.
  • Semi-balanced rudder in GRP with 75mm alloyed aluminium rudderpost. Rudder fitting in acid resistant stainless steel, bolted to the skeg.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • 1 x Yanmar 4JH 110hp 4-cylinder turbo-charged marine diesel engine (new 2007).
  • Yanmar KM4A mechanical reduction gearbox.
  • Freshwater cooling via raw-water intake and heat-exchanger.

  • Thrust bearing on shaft.
