English

Beautifully maintained single-owner Malo 40 from 2005. Stored ashore every winter and well specified for comfortable short-handed cruising.

FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

The Malo yard is highly regarded for producing exceptionally well-built yachts, each one finished to a high standard and normally with a semi-custom layout to suit their owner's requirements. The Malo 40 ZIGGY is no exception.

Commissioned by her current owner ZIGGY was delivered new to Poole Harbour in the summer of 2005 and sailed north to the Clyde and her home berth in Largs later that year. Regularly cruising the west coast of Scotland and the Outer Hebrides she has also taken trips south along the east and south coasts of Ireland and along the south coast of England. Below decks, she offers two comfortable double cabins with two further occasional berths in the saloon. Her inventory highlights include:

• Original gelcoat finish to hull and deck mouldings

• Lead ballast keel

• Yanmar 4JH4E, 57hp marine diesel engine

• Aquadrive thrust bearing.

• Brunton Autoprop, 3-blade feathering prop

• Fisher Panda FC4000, 230VAC/3.8kW marine generator (2012)

• Mastervolt IVO smart battery charger

• Adverc alternator controller

• Victron Energy Argofet battery isolator, charge splitting system

• Adverc DCM Mk III battery monitor system

• Raymarine Autopilot system

• Raymarine ST60 navigation instruments with Raymarine ST60 Maxiview repeater

• Raymarine E80 Classic MFD’s in cockpit and at chart table with mast-mounted radar scanner

• SMEV gas cooker

• Isotherm water-cooled fridge system

• Eberspacher hydronic heating system

• Electric flush marine toilet in master cabin en-suite heads

• Harken MkIII roller reefing system, 140% roller reefing genoa, by Saturn Sails for 2024 season

• Slab-reefing mainsail

• Andersen stainless steel winches, with electric primary winch

• Waveline 270, inflatable dinghy (2019) with Yamaha 2hp, 2-stroke outboard

Currently lying on her berth in Largs Yacht Haven the Malo 40 ZIGGY is available for immediate viewing by appointment. She is scheduled to be lifted ashore for winter storage in early November 2024.

OWNERS COMMENTS:

We had sailed for several years prior to purchasing ZIGGY, owning 2 yachts of smaller and lighter construction. On taking delivery of our new yacht at Poole in Dorset in June 2005, we set off in changeable weather conditions for the run home to Largs via Arklow and the east coast of Ireland and were immediately impressed by the Malo. The superior stability, safe deep cockpit and excellent weather protection of the large windscreen provided a comfort and feeling of safety. The generous accommodation also suited the pair of us.

Over the years we have explored many remote and safe anchorages in the west of Scotland, away from the bustle of harbours and marinas helped in no small way by the occasional use of the electric generator providing power for water heater, electrical appliances including hair dryer, and more importantly giving the service batteries a kick through the Adverc control system.

We have now reached the point of having to concede to old age and therefore must pass our lovely yacht on to another sailor.
