MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:
The alluring appeal of the sea and the excitement of what lies beyond enlivens our quest for travel. Discover havens and estuaries, scenery and wildlife… overnight in peaceful surroundings. A DALE Nelson transforms your voyage into a relaxing, undemanding, safe and memorable cruise. If this sounds like your thing, the DALE Nelson 38 is your destination.
She exemplifies a boat valued by those who know the sea. So much has been written about the sea keeping abilities of the DALE Nelson 38 and the sheer quality and finish of the DALE build, it seems superfluous for us to say more…
The 38 has a commanding external helm position supplemented by a covered chart area. The wheelhouse and galley are beautifully appointed with the craftsmanship and attention to detail which goes hand in hand with the DALE name and the lower dining saloon is a sociable area for a snack, quiet escape to read a book, or ready for a three course meal for the whole crew. The extending table makes this area ideal for a multitude of purposes.
Bespoke stowage is tailored to owner’s requirements. From blanket drawers in the cabins to a cutlery drawer in the galley, from chart stowage and a drinks cabinet in the wheelhouse, the stowage can be designed and built to the owner’s exact specification.
The aft cabin version of the DALE Nelson 38 boasts a private and spacious master cabin with ensuite toilet and shower.
Our engineers pay particular attention to the small details that make a big difference to experienced sea-goers. Fuel tanks run the length of the hull so they enhance rather than detract from stability, hull sides and stringers are fully sound proofed, engine rooms feature kind-to-the-knees rubber matting in place of harsh checker plate, through hull fittings are fitted with engraved labels. The quality of the engineering ensures dependable reliability.
• Excellent heavy weather handling and renowned seakeeping.
• Bullet proof construction.
• Superb craftsmanship and attention to detail.
• Renowned engine room installations and reliability.
• Low noise levels.
• Easily accessible with reassuringly wide and safe side decks.Spacious and beautifully appointand dinette.
PRESS REVIEW:
“I have never been out in a test where I’ve been admonished for driving too slowly! To have a builder urging you to drive home as fast as possible in the sort of conditions that slow many boats to a crawl is hugely reassuring. But the 38’s excellent heavy-weather handling would amount to little if the build wasn’t up to scratch, and you found yourself too scared to drive the boat hard in case it broke. Happily, Dale scores full marks here. It’s not just the heavy construction that provides the comfort: the whole boat is put together with great care and considerable attention to detail. Joinery built this heavily will last indefinitely. And quality engineering always makes for less heartache in the engineroom.”

ABOUT DALE SAILING:
DALE has grown from a family business founded in 1961 by Campbell Reynolds to the internationally renowned business of today.
The history is unique.
Eight generations of farming, fishing and work that a life by the sea provided…..building boats, servicing the offshore lighthouses of the Smalls, Skokholm, and South Bishop. The chandlery stocking the largest range of traditional marine wool wear and waterproof clothing in the country, regularly visited by Henri Lloyd himself and attracting loyal customers who drove miles and miles to come and purchase a Norwegian jumper! In the adjoining boathouse, Campbell, Seymour his father and the family built and repaired wooden boats by hand – skills passed on from generation to generation.
In the early days of GRP, the company mastered new skills, embracing the new materials and technology of the time and built its first fibre glass boat. The ‘Dale Princess’ was born and she remains in daily service today taking thousands out to visit the spectacular Pembrokeshire islands.
Campbell and his sons, John and Mike expanded the business to Brunel Quay in 1983, a fitting location steeped in boatbuilding history. The next chapter unfolded with the beginning of an enduring dream involvement with TT Boat Designs the originators of the Nelson design, one of the true greats with an unrivalled heritage of sea-keeping.
The first DALE Nelson was launched to enthusiastic press acclaim. Nearly three decades later, continuous advances in marine design and engineering have enabled us to continually move forward with a perfect balance of tradition and technology- a philosophy gloriously captured with the Classic 45 in 2004, taken in a new direction in 2010 with the introduction of the DALE 23 high performance launch, the ultimate expression of personalisation with the Classic 35 in 2014 and the beautifully packaged DALE 28 in 2017.
The deep connection with the sea and seamanship, the love and appreciation of tradition and craftsmanship and the importance of family and family values underpin everything that is DALE today.
