À propos de Southerly 115 Series 3

English

A prime example of the Northshore built Southerly 115 series 3. Her current owners, the second since new, have the following to say about this yacht, which is currently moored in Suffolk

"As the second owners of 'AVALON', we have enjoyed sailing and caring for her over the past 16 years, and she has safely taken us around the UK and Ireland. She is a stable, seaworthy boat, that has coped well with the range of sea conditioned we have encountered. Hew swing keel means she can play in shallow water, dry out on a beach and explore creeks and rivers other boats cannot reach. 'AVALON's factory fitted non-standard 50hp Yanmar engine is very reliable and powerful."

Viewings will be available by appointment only, in conjunction with a local representative.

Construction

Hull and superstructure are heavy duty GRP moulding, hand laid up to Northshore’s Nordseal laminate system, with clear gelcoat underwater. In the hull, woven rovings and chopped strand mats are used in combination, with thickness increasing progressively towards the keel area. There is a balsa core in the topsides which stops just above the waterline. The deck is of sandwich type construction using balsa core stiffening, with plywood in high stress areas where fittings are positioned. Bulkheads are glassed in, and the entire deck is bonded to the hull resulting in a strong and integral unite. A teak rubbing strake is fitted externally. Interior joinery is of teak faced plywood with solid teak trims built onto GRP base modules which are glassed into the hull.
