Acerca de este Westerly Fulmar 32

English

This Westerly Fulmar 32 probably represents the benchmark against which all other Fulmars should be measured. She is simply a stunning example of her type that has had much love lavished upon her, as well as numerous upgrades.

When Westerly introduced the Fulmar 32, she represented somewhat of a departure for them; no longer just a well built but staid cruiser - the Fulmar is a fast cruising yacht that performed well on the racing circuit, thanks to her Ed Dubois design. The high standard of build, fit and finish still remained, along with comfortable accommodation and generous headroom.

The current owner has spared no expense in maintaining "Scarlet" with a new headling, 6 coats of Coppercoat antifouling, electric anchor windlass, Eberspacher heating, Raymarine chart plotter and electronics, and new windows being just some of the highlights of his loving ownership.

Owner's Comments

Scarlett - as she had been re-named by her previous owners, came to be our companion and joy in some pretty hard times… we purchased her in 2011 following my husband's diagnosis with a pretty unpleasant form of cancer in 2010, and we honestly didn’t know how long he may get to enjoy a hobby he had always wanted to try, but had always been too busy to get around to doing. Funny how life takes on a different hue when the possibility of its’ continuation may be whipped from you at any moment.

Our situation went from…as extreme as we thought possible, to unimaginable, when having gained some experience with sailing Scarlett near home in Poole, our daughter was also diagnosed with a very rare and severe cancer in 2013. Scarlett became our sanctuary on every possible occasion when weather permitted, he has been our joy and our world away from hospitals… where we could be with friends and family when both were well enough, regaining our inner strength and finding some form of normality and some very special super fun times amid the chaos that was our life.

Now, here we are at the end of 2024 with a healthy family, which was not our prognosis by a long chalk. Our permanent Summer mooring on the Helford River near Falmouth with Scarlett bobbing gently on its’ picturesque waters has been our joy and a place of peace, of shooting stars and mornings afloat liquid mercury, healing body and soul. But there is a time for everything and it is now time for us to move on. It is so bitter sweet saying goodbye to Scarlett as we could not have made this journey to health without her, but with health restored it is time to let go of our sanctuary and for her to give joy to others who will love her and treasure their moment with her, for she is a teacher of many things and her ability to bring joy is endless. It is time for us to step forward into adventures anew.

She will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

PS: The mooring on the Helford River is avaiable for Scarlett's next owners, if they wish to take it over.
