Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised B – “Offshore”

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Oxford Blue GRP hull with white superstructure.
  • Diamond grey Treadmaster decks throughout.
  • Traditional teak to aft deck area and top of aft deck seat lockers.
  • Pilot type rubber fendering and spray rails to hull.
  • Pilot boat-style rubber spray rails.
  • Powder-coated removable mast housing radar scanner & reflector, reversing camera, horns and hailer.
  • Double-glazed forward windscreens (replaced 2022).
  • Topsides polished - Autumn 2023.
  • Hull anti-fouled – Autumn 2023.
  • Exterior anodes replaced – Autumn 2023.
  • Hull polished - Autumn 2023.
  • Bruiser is lifted twice each season for hull & sterngear inspection, wash-off and annual anode replacement.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • 2 x 315hp Yanmar 6LPA-STP2 6-cylinder diesel engines.
  • 4.16L displacement 4-stroke diesel engine developing 315MHP @ 3800 RPM.
  • Turbo-charged and intercooled with direct 2-stage injection & mechanical engine management.
  • Exhaust cooling water alarm system.
  • Primary Separ bulkhead fuel filter (clear-bowl with draw saucer) and secondary engine-mounted fuel filter.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

  • Engine hours are indicated at 935/937 @ September 2024.
  • Engines annually serviced professionally by Elite Marine, Plymouth.
  • Engines serviced (April 2023).
  • Heat exchangers removed and coolers serviced in 2021.
  • Deep Sea seals checked and upgraded prior to 2023 Scottish voyage.

 

Propulsion & Steering:

  • Fitted with 2 x 4 blade contra rotating propellers to Twin Disc IRM 63A reduction gearboxes.
  • 1 x ¾” diameter stainless steel shafts giving a maximum speed of 25 knots.
  • Twin cast bronze airfoil rudders.
  • Bennett electro-hydraulic trim tabs, with indicators.
  • Morse mechanical throttles.
  • Stripper type rope cutters and longer shafts.
  • Vetus 75kgf bow thruster with joystick to main console.

Electrical Equipment

Voltage Systems:

  • Remote Victron Energy VE. Bus control panel in saloon.
  • Voltage sensitive relay for split charging.
  • 12V power sockets throughout accommodation.
  • Voltmeters at 12V control panel.

 

Battery Banks:

  • Approximately 440 Amp hours battery capacity in two battery banks of 12V AGM batteries.
  • AGM generator starter battery with individual Victron charger.
  • Additional domestic battery fitted at initial build.
  • All batteries replaced with new in 2023.

 

Battery Chargers:

  • Victron Energy MultiPlus Compact 12/2000W/80A inverter/charger (2018) supplying mains 240V voltage when shore power is not available.

 

Alternators:

  • 80A Yanmar 12V alternator to each engine.

 

Generator:

  • Fischer Panda 4000 Eco Power 3.8kW generator (2015).
  • Remote generator control panel in saloon.
  • Indicated 81.5 hours run @ September 2024.
  • Double generator underwater exhaust muffler for very quiet running at anchor.
  • Seacock replaced 2018.

 

Shore Power:

  • 240V shore power with voltmeter, power supply to 240v ring main and hot water immersion heater. 6 sockets in all throughout.

 

Other electrical:

  • Galvanic isolator.

Plumbing Systems

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

  • Eberspacher Hydronic hot water and central heating system.
  • Isotherm hot water heater via either engine heat exchange, 240v immersion heater or Eberspacher.

 

Bilge Pumps:

  • Six electric bilge pumps with indicators at helm.
  • Emergency manual bilge pump to aft cockpit.

Tankage

Fuel:

  • BRUISER has a total diesel fuel capacity of 279 Imperial Gallons (1268 litres) in two fuel tanks which are integrally moulded into the keel section of the hull.
  • The forward tank, No.3, holds 160 Imperial Gallons (727 litres): tank supplies port engine, generator, domestic heating and Wallas hob.
  • The aft tank No.2 holds 119 Imperial gallons (541 litres): tank supplies starboard engine only.
  • The fuel supply lines are fitted with an emergency cross connection valve, allowing Bruiser to continue by switching of the fuel supply, should one engine require shutting down.
  • Inspection lids for tank cleaning.
  • Tank Tender mechanical pressurized tank contents display.
  • Oceanic Systems volumetric fuel sender measuring system, with external digital display at port deck fillers & Offshore 3345 digital colour tank contents display at companionway.

 

Fresh Water:

  • The two freshwater tanks in the lazarette hold 70 gallons (318 litres) in moulded polypropylene tanks.
  • Tank Tender volumetric monitoring.

 

Grey/Blackwater Holding Tanks:

  • Blackwater holding tank system with deck suction fitting.
  • The blackwater tank holds 19 gallons (87 litres).
  • Blackwater volume sensor to Oceanic Systems gauge.
  • Jabsco electric macerator pump (2023).

Navigation Equipment

  • Raymarine C120W colour display/plotter.
  • Raymarine 12” closed array radar scanner.
  • Raymarine AIS.
  • Raymarine ST60+ Speed.
  • Raymarine ST60+ Depth.
  • Raymarine ST60+ Wind & anemometer.
  • Raymarine P70R Pilot control (2023).

  • Additional 32 litre capacity top-loading electric refrigerator built into port side helm seat base.

 

Heads/Showers:

  • Heads compartment to port with Jabsco electric toilet (2023 - with fresh water or salt water flush), thermostatic shower head on umbilical hose and moulded hand basin (with mixer tap).
  • Electric shower pump (2022) with teak gating.
  • Storage cupboard, mirror and opening port-light.

 

Heating & Ventilation:

  • Eberspacher Hydronic hot water and central heating system.
  • Pair of additional skylight hatches above the helm and navigator’s seats with built-in sunscreens.
  • Powered ventilators to head and accommodation spaces.
  • Larger opening port-lights at dinette, galley, forward cabin, with overhead opening deck-hatches.
  • Sliding side windows to wheelhouse, with opening aft door, and dropping aft bulkhead window.

 

Entertainment:

  • Ferguson mobile TV at saloon (with aerial point to Status powered antenna).
