The YYachts Y7, crafted by Michael Schmidt Yachtbau and designed by Bill Tripp, is a 21.68-metre sailing yacht for sale in Germany, built in 2024. This innovative vessel embodies Michael Schmidt’s vision of speed, lightness, and ease of sailing, featuring twin engines and a bow thruster for effortless manoeuvrability. The Y7 boasts a tender garage with a lifting system in the carbon boom, synthetic teak decking, and a clean deck design with all halyards and sheets hidden to the wheel pedestals. It allows for singlehanded sailing, making it unique among 70-footers, and includes a square-headed mainsail for enhanced performance. The cockpit versatility and integrated crew quarters further highlight this yacht’s thoughtful design.
The origin of YYachts by Michael Schmidt Yachtbau is one of many success stories of its founder Michael Schmidt. Himself a pass- ionate regatta sailor and boat builder, from the outset he was steadfast in his belief that a yacht must be fast, light and easy to sail. The Y7 is the realisation of this philosophy and features numerous innovations on board that express it.

The furling system, anchor and wheel pede- stals are elegantly integrated into the exterior look created by Bill Tripp. Twin engines and a bow thruster allow easy manoeuvring, even in tight marinas, making the Y7 surprisingly easy to handle.
Your dinghy of up to 3.50 metres in length disappears in a tender garage and is moved with a lifting system integrated into the car- bon boom. Containing all equipment
and “water toys”, the dinghy garage is dry and easily accessed from the deck. On deck, YYachts uses synthetic teak which is long lasting, light and eco-friendly.
All halyards and sheets on the Y7 run aft and hidden to the wheel pedestals. This way the helmsman or helms woman can sail the Y7 singlehandedly – probably the only 70-footer on the market that allows this.
As there is no backstay, the square- headed mainsail boasts more sail area and a profile better suited for performance. The cockpit has a high variety of uses. On the portside there is a full-size companionway leading to the crew quarters and invisibly integrated in the aft cockpit settees.
