Mechanical & Electrical systems
Located under the cockpit, Volvo 2003, three cylinder, 28hp diesel engine. Electric start. Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Shaft drive to fixed pitch two bladed propeller. Shaft fitted rope cutter. 160 litres fuel capacity giving approximately 300 miles range at 5.5 knots cruising speed. Maximum speed under power 6.5 knots. Single lever control. New stern gland and cutless bearing fitted in 2022. New raw water pump fitted 2023.
Three x 12 volt batteries in two banks charged via engine alternator. Nasa battery monitor. Two x Unisolar solar panels with Marlec HRDi regulator. 240 volt shorepower system with battery charger, immersion heater and ring main.
Construction & Rig
Built in 1987 by Westerly Marine to a design by Ed Dubois. White GRP hull with style stripes. Teak rubbing strake. White GRP superstructure with light grey painted non-slip surfaces. Cast iron keel. Spade hung rudder. Wheel steering. Teak slats to cockpit seats. Teak cockpit grating. Self-draining centre cockpit with fixed windscreen.
Masthead rigged sloop. Anodised aluminium mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging (replaced 2016). Terylene running rigging. Slab reefing to mainsail. Lazyjacks. Furlex headsail furling system. Telescopic spinnaker pole. Two Setamar self-tailing sheet winches. Two Barlow 19 halyard winches on coachroof. Lines led aft to Spinlock clutches.
