About this Trident Marine Triana 25

English

Taking into consideration other offerings in the market place at this time, we have reduced the asking price of Le Scarron to £79,950 to ensure that she remains the most attractive proposition.

A much-loved classic offshore powerboat, featuring the famous race-bred deep vee hull. Subject to a comprehensive refit over several years by her present owners, previously listed with a different engine package, she is now fitted with a new warranted Volvo Penta V8-350 engine and duo-prop outdrive providing excellent performance and good economy. Subject to many sympathetic updates that have not compromised her original character and ethos, with truly outstanding seakeeping it would be difficult to find a more usable classic with a performance envelope unmatched by many modern boats; truly an offshore restomod. Triana was an evolution of the Trident express cruisers designed by the legendary race boat designer Renato ‘Sonny’ Levi for the cruiser class of the Cowes - Torquay races of the mid-sixties and followed on directly from A’Speranziella, his 1963 race winner. At 25’ long they were perfect for their day and used Volvo Penta’s newly released AQ series outdrive engines. Much sought after by the offshore racing crowd of the late 1960s, they were considered the seagoing equivalent of a Ford GT40 and were constructed using state of the art race-boat build methods in high strength GRP by Tylers of Tonbridge, the renowned moulder of top-quality hulls such as the Spearfish and others. Fewer than 15 were built and this is an early original example, you won’t find another of this quality.

COCKPIT

In the cockpit, the helm position is to port and comprises a single helm seat set in front of a comprehensive array of engine instruments. A footrest is provided on the console with a matching seat and footrest located to starboard for the navigator together with a grab rail. The navigation instruments are inserted into the instrument console or on top of the dashboard. Visibility is excellent through the original two-part toughened Triplex tinted curved glass windscreen and sidescreens, useful cave lockers are placed in the cockpit comings. A sun bed is located on top of the engine box. Set into the teak planked cockpit floor are flush mounted hatches giving access to the fuel tank and lazarette. The cockpit has a spray hood and bimini extension plus a backdrop to convert to a full camper cover. There is also a tonneau cover.

ENGINE SPACE

The new Volvo Penta V8 petrol engine, based on the latest all aluminium Gen V small block Chevrolet LS engine, fits easily into the engine room with plenty of room to allow servicing and daily level checks. Currently with less than 10 running-in hours and with a full Volvo Penta warranty, it provides quiet, easy power and surprisingly economical cruising. The installation is extremely clean as are the bilges and is a pleasure to inspect.

EXTERIOR

The side decks are pleasantly wide compared to modern boats and have a good non-slip finish to them. The foredeck is surrounded by a stainless steel pulpit. Mooring cleats are substantial fore, mid and aft. The self-launching anchor stows on the bow roller. Teak grab rails are mounted on the cabin roof together with the solid teak mast. There is a useful stainless steel and teak bathing platform. All the cabin top sides and deck are painted in two pack Awlgrip finishes, cabin windows have recently been replaced with fully bonded tinted plexiglass The hull topsides are in the original gel coat and the underwater sections have been epoxy treated with Coppercoat antifouling.

ACCOMMODATION

The cabin is entered from the cockpit via a two-part solid teak door and down a step. Extensively fitted out with original teak cabinetry and practical white painted surfaces, all the soft furnishings are removable. The interior was fully retrimmed in blue Alcantara in 2021. Immediately to port is a four-seat dinette which converts to a small bunk, with teak lockers and cupboards above, on the bulkheads are the original electric panel, clock and barometer. On the starboard side of the cabin entrance is the door into the toilet compartment. In here a manual sea toilet is mounted on a plinth outboard under the side deck at the aft end. Cave lockers for toiletries are built in directly under the side windows. A mirror is placed on the forward bulkhead together with a night light and in the roof has a ventilator. Directly in front of the toilet compartment is the galley with its spacious worktop finished in pearl Corian featuring an inset sink, and a top loading refrigerator/freezer. Within the main galley unit are lockers for food and cooking utensils. Outboard under the side deck are cut-outs for crockery and glasses. In the front of the cabin at its widest point is a settee/vee berth with stowage under. An escape/ventilation hatch is located above in the foredeck. There are two lockers outboard of the settee on each side and set forward in the bulkhead is an access hatch to the chain locker up in the bows. The side windows let in plenty of light and altogether this is a very airy and luxurious cabin.

The Triana 25 nicely fills the gap between a Fairey Huntress and Huntsman, but with the added bonus of a GRP hull and performance of an outdrive.
