Ganymede (GBR1) is an 8mR racing yacht designed by Juliane Hempel and built by the Aldeburgh Boatyard in 2007. With a 13.34m overall length and 2.50m beam, this cold-moulded spruce strip and Douglas fir-planked boat has rod rigging and Z-Spars spars. It has seen success with subsequent campaigns and is now back at the Aldeburgh Boatyard.
"Ganymede" (GBR1) is an 8mR racing yacht, designed by Juliane Hempel, currently one of Germany's most successful yacht designers, for yard owner Peter Wilson. Peter built the boat at the Aldeburgh Boatyard in 2007, and the hull is cold-moulded using spruce strip planking which has been sheathed. The deck is laid Douglas fir on composite plywood. Spars are from Z-Spars, and the rigging is stainless steel rod-rigging. Since she was built she has been campaigned successfully on the 8mR circuit, and is now back at the Aldeburgh Boatyard where she can be viewed.
