Construction

Hull Number : Oyster 62-15

Hull Construction : Laid-up GRP, single Skin with structural stringers and floors to Lloyds approved design specification, Outer hull Laminated in Vinylester resin.

Hull Finish : White hull with cove line and double boot top lines in standard Oyster Blue. Hull sand blasted and coppercoat antifouling applied in 2016. Normal Antifouling has now been passed over the coppercoat.

Deck Construction : Moulded in GRP with balsa Core

Deck Finish : Side decks, forward and aft coach roof, winch coamings, cockpit seats, sole and helmsman’s seats trimmed with laid natural teak (full teak deck sand and re-caulk April 2019 by Oyster Palma). The deck edge incorporates a bulwalk with teak capping rail.

Keel : High performance bulb (HPB) external lead keel.

Rudder : Fully protected skeg-hung rudder (dropped in 2016 for inspection)

Stern Design : “Sugar scoop” stern design with bathing platform trimmed with teak slats and stainless steel steps for access to the stern deck. Fold down stainless steel bathing ladder fitted with lanyard and retaining pin for retrieval and stowage.

“Millennium Style” – interior joinery in Teak. Designed to be modern and coordinated whilst remaining practical and durable at sea. Essential features include sculpted fiddles and grabrails, “shadow-gap” joints between panels and Oyster custom knobs for lockers and draws. All draws have metal runners for smooth operation

Solid “framed” doors with cream inlaid style border. Mobella Nova chrome handles to all cabin doors. Cabin sole in teak and holly stripe.

Avonite “Autumn Wheat K-3-7725” galley work surfaces with upstands. Grooves in Avonite to forwards sink draining area. White washbasins set into Avonite surfaces with Hansgrohe chrome mixer taps and pressure balanced showers in each of the three heads compartments. Saloon

A light and airy saloon thanks to the several windows two of which open as well as the hull port lights. Mosquito screens also fit the opening windows. The very large oval saloon table to starboard centres around the curved seating. Copious amounts of storage in lockers at eye level, behind seat backs and beneath seating. Specialist lockers for Bar storage, storage in table base. Table top made by Anita Marquetry (50,000 GBP when new) with a stunning design finished to high gloss and includes a surround and grab rail.

To the port side there is a comfortable reading chair with storage behind and below and nice joinery between also incorporating drawers. In front of this is a forward facing chair positioned in front of the large chart table. Rise and fall TV is located outboard of the reading chair and more storage lockers are found outboard of that. Large bookcase to starboard houses the many pilot books aboard.

Access to the saloon is down a set of shaped timber and stainless steps with grab handles either side. A vertical drop-down, acrylic washboard can be set at two different heights and there is a mosquito net to put in place of the washboard.

In the aft starboard side of the saloon is the locker for the washer dryer along with more storage outboard of it.

Navigation Area

A well sized navigation area, with a table large enough to fit a half folded Admiralty chart, Plenty of storage inside the table and a large shelf above provide a place for other equipment or books. The Chart table houses much of the Navigation equipment and communications equipment and is a comfortable place to work. Original Weems and Plath Clock and Barometer.

Galley

Running down the Port side of the boat, midships the galley is well placed to serve food and prepare food when at sea. It has plentiful storage with a variety of systems to suit the storage needs of different food groups. Long term dry storage, vegetable storage to the copious amounts of fridge and freezer storage. The overall design makes the galley a pleasure to work in.

Cooker/Hob: Gimballed Force 10 FT63451 Stainless Gas cooker with 4 burners and grill and oven. Gas safety switch. Heavy gauge fiddle rail with adjustable pan holders. Harbour lock and crash bar. Gas alarm system.

Refrigeration/Freezer: Frigomatic 24v keel cooled front opening galley refrigerator with door light and shelves. Frigomatic 24v keel cooled refrigeration to Cockpit table. Frigomatic 50F twin water cooled compressors and evaporation plates in top opening freezer wit baskets for food stowage and temperature display.

Engine Room

Sound insulated with plywood and composite foam and high density polymer sound absorbing materials. Access via door from starboard midship cabin. Lighting and extractor fan and automatic fire suppression system.

Midships Starboard Cabin

Single bed over a workbench with many storage lockers below for tools. Hanging rail and over head storage, port light and reading light.

Owners stateroom

A large double berth slightly offset from centre line to Port. Ventilation system below the 5” mattress. Dressing table and seat, tallboy unit and large lit, hanging locker. Private access to cabin via rear deck with offset companion way to starboard. Internal access via galley to Port.
