About this Hylas 54

FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

Winner of the prestigious Cruising World Magazine ‘Boat of the Year’, the German Frers designed Hylas 54 has proven herself as a hugely successful and desirable blue water cruising yacht both in the US and in Europe with 59 built.

EN-DEILIG (hull number 47) is one of just two Hylas 54’s supplied new into the European market by Hylas Yachts UK Ltd. Kept in their continued ownership and used lightly as a demonstrator, she was sold by Grabau International to her current owners in 2019 who were looking specifically for a yacht capable of becoming a safe and reliable passage-maker for their young family. Following a short period of upgrade and refit with all works carried out professionally on the UK’s South Coast, EN-DEILIG sailed to the Mediterranean before readying herself for taking part in the inaugural January ARC, where she finished first in her class and was third yacht over the line out of an original entry list of 47 boats.

SPECIFICATION

CONSTRUCTION

RCD Status:

Hull Construction:

• The hull is hand laid up using three layers of TWARON; a carbon aramid (Kevlar) fibre with alternating FRP (fibre reinforced plastic) glass lay up.

• A solid laminate (ie. no core) is used for maximum strength and longevity.

• Modern vinylester resins and isophthalic gelcoats are used for increased resistance to the effects of osmosis.

• The gelcoat finish is white with blue style lines.

• Original Coppercoat removed, hull sanded back and 4x new epoxy coatings applied – 2020

• International Micron 350 antifoul – Spring 2023

• The hull sides feature a teak rubbing strake with stainless steel capping. This rubbing strake runs the length of the hull sides.

• The bow area is further protected by a stainless-steel strike plate in the general anchor area. A protective stainless-steel plate can also be found at the transom.

• Internally, a watertight collision bulkhead is found ahead of the forward cabin with independent overboard drainage.

• Aft are watertight stern sections protecting the owner’s cabin from water ingress to the aft lazarettes and stern lockers.

Deck & Superstructure Construction:

• Balsa-cored GRP deck & with solid GRP laminate used beneath deck fittings and in high-stress areas.

• Additional layer of TWARON built into coachroof

• Raised solid teak bulwark is fitted along the lengths of the deck with stainless steel fairleads in way of mooring cleats.

• The superstructure and forward coachroof also feature stainless steel or teak grab rails
