History of Feadship

Feadship, an acronym for "First Export Association of Dutch Shipbuilders," traces its origins back to 1949. It was founded through a collaboration of two prominent Dutch shipyards, Royal Van Lent and De Vries Scheepsbouw, along with De Voogt Naval Architects. This cooperative was formed to promote the export of luxury yachts to the United States, recognizing the growing market for high-end vessels across the Atlantic. Their dedication to craftsmanship and innovative designs quickly earned Feadship a reputation for producing some of the world's finest custom yachts. The roots of Feadship's craftsmanship can be traced back even further, with each of the founding shipyards boasting a rich history in boat building. Royal Van Lent began its operations on the Kaag Island in the early 19th century, while De Vries Scheepsbouw's origins date back to the same period with extensive experience in crafting wooden ships. The merging of these historic yards under the Feadship banner created a powerhouse of expertise and tradition in the art of shipbuilding.Today, Feadship remains a leading name in luxury yacht construction, maintaining its headquarters in the Netherlands. The primary facilities are located in Aalsmeer, Makkum, and Kaag, where they continue to craft state-of-the-art superyachts with a focus on bespoke designs and cutting-edge technology. Feadship upholds its founders' legacy through a commitment to quality, innovation, and refined nautical engineering, making them a benchmark in the world of custom yachting.
