Construction

Hull Construction:

  • Composite construction with end grain balsa core providing strength, thermal insulation and acoustic insulation.
  • Layer of Kevlar adding to the hull strength.
  • Non-pigmented gel is used below the waterline to help prevent osmosis.
  • Vinylester resins are used throughout for added strength and osmosis prevention.
  • 3 x Layers of epoxy as a barrier against moisture ingress.
  • Hull moulding in ‘flag blue’.
  • Three water tight bulkheads providing sealed buoyancy.
  • Stainless steel rubbing rail on gunwale.
  • Hull moulding in Flag Blue with white boot top tripe with red stripe above.
  • Coachline above portlights gelled in white.

Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Joined to the hull with epoxy paste and stainless bolts for security.

  • Deck saloon window mullions in dark green.

 

Keel & Rudder:

  • 9,500kg (20,500lb) shaped lead keel and a depth of 7’3” (2.23m) provides a ballast ratio of 42% providing maximum stability. Bearings serviced 2018.
  • Semi balanced large Kevlar reinforced rudder.
  • Hull moulding in Flag Blue with white boot top tripe with red stripe above.
  • Coachline above portlights gelled in white.

Machinery

Engine & Generator:

  • Yanmar 4LHA-HTP 160hp diesel engine with gearbox ratio of 2.68:1.
  • Racor R15P fuel filter fitted in engine room, including  spare filters.
  • 11kVA Onan generator.
  • Engine and generator each have exhaust water separators to provide silent exhaust – very peaceful in the evening.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

  • Maintained in accordance with the Manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Engine Hours:  3235 @ March 2024.
  • Generator Hours: 977 @ March 2024.
  • Fuel consumption motor sailing typically 1 litre / nautical mile.

 

Propulsion & Steering:

  • 24” Brunton 4 blade folding propeller - quieter propulsion.
  • Rope cutter/stripper.
  • Leather covered wheel steering.
  • Stainless Morse control.
  • Bow thruster – Maxpower 125 composite.
  • 2 x 12 volt AGM batteries renewed  2023 under forward bunk to deliver higher voltage to the Bow thruster due to much lower cable length.
  • These 2 x batteries are charged by a small 24-volt CTEK charger fed from the 240-volt supply.
  • Operator port / starboard buttons / joystick on forward deck and at steering pedestal.
  • In addition a remote control of Bow thruster by Maxpower to facilitate shorthanded buoy pick up.

Electrical Systems

Voltage Systems:

  • HUAHINE’s 240-volt AC system is supplied either from the shore power or from the Victron inverter in the engine room.
  • 240 volts is used by the immersion heater, the Victron Multiplus for main battery charging, washing machine, 3 x air conditioners in the main saloon, aft cabin and forward cabins, standby 60-amp battery charger behind the Navigation seat.
  • Multiple three pin 240-volt sockets throughout the cabins and saloon. Ideal for USB adaptors.
  • The primary service voltage is 24 Volts DC for all winches, pumps, lights (largely LED) etc.
  • There is a drop down device to provide 12 volts from 24 volts for the navigation equipment.

 

Battery Banks:

  • The main 24-volt battery bank is serviced by 12 x 2 volt gel batteries under the main saloon table. This is the original main battery and it is tested under load each spring (April 2024 - No voltage drop after 3 hours at 19 amp call off).
  • Dedicated 12-volt 75 AH AGM engine battery (replaced 2016).
  • Dedicated 12-volt 75AH AGM generator battery (replaced 2016).
  • Dedicated bow thruster batteries (replaced 2023).
  • Battery monitor installed to measure 3 x battery voltages plus current follow in and out of the main 24-volt battery.

 

Battery Chargers:

  • Victron Phoenix Multiplus 24v 70amp 2000w combi inverter charger. This provides three step charging for optimal battery protection.
  • Spare 24 volt 50 amp charger aft of navigation seat.
  • Small CTEK 24 volt charger for the bow thruster batteries.

 

Alternators:

  • 100-amp additional alternator on main engine to charge the main 24-volt battery set.
  • 70-amp alternator on main engine to charge the main engine 12-volt battery.

 

Shore Power:

  • 60 foot cable from transom to shore with 16 amp 3 round pin plug and usage meter.
  • 60 foot extension cable.

Plumbing Systems

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

  • Main engine fresh water system circulates through the hot water calorifier.
  • Alternatively, the fresh water calorifier can be heated by its 240-volt immersion heater.
  • Hot and cold fresh water is pumped to the galley and two bathrooms toilets showers and cockpit with pressure modulated by a pressurised tank.
  • Hot tub plumbing (hot and cold fresh or salt water).

 

Watermaker:

  • Seafresh H206A watermaker, 70 litres/hr.

 

Bilge Pumps:

  • All the bilge pumps are alarmed. In addition, the main bilge has a LED light alarm electrically supplied from an independent circuit.
  • Three Electric bilge pumps in: sail locker, forward and Pullman cabin and main bilge.
  • Manual bulge pump in cockpit for main bilge.

Tankage

Fuel:

  • 3 x Tek tanks (600, 344, 300 litres) with total capacity of 1,244 litres.

 

Fresh Water:

  • 2 x Tek tanks (578 & 432 litres) with total capacity 1,010 litres.
  • Panel display of both fuel and water tank levels.

 

Grey/Blackwater Holding Tanks:

  • 1 x Grey water tank approx. 33 gallons (150 litres) (disused).
  • Forward black tank approx. 9 gallons (40 litres).
  • Aft black tank approx. 13 gallons (60 litres).
  • Black water tank gauges fitted forward and aft.

Navigation Equipment

  • Main compass and hand held compass.
  • Sextant – Brass in teak box.
  • Original Raymarine electronics.
  • New 2 kw digital radar (2010) integrated with Raymarine plotters.

  • Thermostatically controlled showers in separate cubicles both fore and aft.
  • Heated towel rails.
  • Bosch washer/dryer located forward of aft shower.

 

Heating & Ventilation:

  • Eberspächer 24v Hydronic 10 diesel/hot water heating system. Servicing fans in aft cabin, main saloon, forward & Pullman cabin.
  • Main Engine circulates hot water to the fresh water calorifier.
  • 3 x Mushroom for fore cabin and aft cabin dorades.
  • Ventilation for Pullman via upper and lower timber grills through the cabin door.
  • Full tropical air conditioning. This has three units - one for each cabin -  240 volt supply which can either be shore powered or via the upsized generator.

 

Entertainment:

  • TV in main saloon mounted on the inside of the cockpit bulkhead.
  • Stereo radio and CD fitted in aft cabin and main cabin, including speakers in headlining.
