About this Cantiere Carlini Sciarrelli 22m Spirit of Tradition Ketch

English

Timeless and elegant Sciarelli-designed ‘Spirit-of-Tradition’ design, CARMEN SERIDA offers generous volumes and comfort combined with hand-crafted Cantiere Carlini wooden construction.

FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

CARMEN SERIDA have been launched has SERIDA II in 1986, designed by the renowned naval architect Carlo Sciarelli as Progetto 104, and built by wooden yacht artisans Cantiere Carlini in Rimini, this ketch-rigged Spirit-of-Tradition yacht is a truly magnificent classic design with an unparallel interior volumes and habitability for a boat of that age which makes her the perfect combination between classic lines and comfort on board.

CARMEN SERIDA is one of the selected designs mentioned from Carlo Sciarrelli in the so called “Striscia Del Maestro”. Carlo Sciarrelli used to keep record of all of his projects namely them in a list that became a list of approx. 138 projects and boats (both sailing and motor vessels) later renamed “Striscia”. In this list, Carlo Sciarrelli used to mention all of his projects adding a mark close to what he considered his most notable ones with four of them that have two marks. CARMEN SERIDA is one of the vessels that SCIARRELLI listed together with some other of his masterpieces, namely: Chaplin, Chica Boba II, Freya, Serida, Chica Boba III, Angelica II, Clan, Tiziana, Angelica IV, Clan III, etc.

CARMEN SERIDA boasts many specification highlights including:-

• 4-cabins 4 heads interior layout plus sail locker

• Ketch rigged with hydraulic genoa and staysail furler

• Bowthruster – 2014

• Generator

• Watermaker

• Aft mooring winch

OWNER’S COMMENT:

I sailed CARMEN SERIDA (FORMER SERIDA II) for 18 years and my comment is simply a big thank to the genius designer and to the great boatbuilder for their job. The boat is exactly what the designer had imaged: the cruiser and bigger version of the successfully Chica Boba, the boat that some years before successfully gained the second place at the Transat sailed from Mr. Edoardo Austoni.

The thrill of sailing in all weathers and conditions is the Sciarrelli imprint, together with the unmistakable elegance of its lines that make it a timeless lady of the sea and which finds it among the designer's favorites in the famous "Striscia" of he created and bequeathed to the Municipality of Trieste.

MANUFACTURER’S OVERVIEW:

The Carlini Shipyard was founded in the immediate post-war period by Roberto Carlini, who had learned the techniques of shipbuilding working in the Gentili shipyards in the 1930s and 1940s. The first boats built were small drifts such as jole, snipe, dinghy, and then went on to collaborate with national designers such as Eng. Mario Roberti (father of the famous helmsman of Azzurra Stefano Roberti) and Studio Sciomachen.

Thanks to the credibility acquired, started the collaboration with internationally renowned designers such as Robert Clark, J.H. Hillingworth, Laurent Giles, German Frers Senior, William Gardner and others.

Then, in the mid-1950s, a constant collaboration with the Sparkman & Stephens studio began, which would lead to the creation of some of the most famous boats built by the Carlini Shipyard, such as the series of the "Alnair", the "Elan", the "Dida ", the" Kerkira”, “Tarantella", "Levantades", "Sagittarius", "Marea", "Ananda I" and many others, until the end of the seventies when the IOR regulation will no longer allow to build racing boats/cruise. The last project will be "Ananda II" in 1985.

In the early seventies the relationship with the shipowner Raoul Gardini will be fundamental, which will lead, first to the construction of the "Naif", designed by Dick Carter and shortly after to the realization of the "Moro Di Venezia 1976", designed by German Frers Jr., with which, the Carlini Shipyard will then build boats such as "Nita", "Antipolis", "Rumegal" (currently Dida VI) and "Sely".

After graduating from the Nautical Institute of Ancona, Stefano Carlini begins to work definitively with his father Roberto.

In the early eighties started the collaboration with Arch. Carlo Sciarrelli.

Thus beautiful boats will be born such as, "Serida I", "Chica Boba III", which participated in the 1984 Ostar edition, and "Serida II", a 22 m kecht, still the flagship of the shipyard, which will mark the passage of deliveries from father to son, after the death of his father Roberto in 1985.

After that followed “Clan I", "Teresa", "Fenice", "Pamadica", "Dulcinea", "Hilde", "Parsifal", "Iria", "Latest Rorolima" (the only example of a motor boat), "Angelica IV" and "Clan II".

Noteworthy is the collaboration with Studio Claudio Maletto from which "Diva" (¾ tonner) will be born and with Studio Vallicelli for the realization of Conchita IV (cutter 57 ').

DESIGNER’S OVERVIEW:

Carlo Sciarrelli.

“Carlo Sciarrelli was born in Trieste on 6 July 1934 and died in Trieste on 24 September 2006. He was a difficult man, sometimes grumpy, but endowed with a great sensibility forgotten by studying completely by himself and by a profound knowledge of both technical and psychological boating.

Truly “Triestino”, son of a railway and himself an employee of the FFSS, in March 2003 received a degree in architecture "honoris causa" from the University of Venice.

Author of "The Yacht - Origin and evolution of the pleasure craft", an important book published in 1970 with the history and exchanges of the sailing yacht and the with the publication of most of its achievements.

Sciarelli has created more than 400 boats starting with ANFITRITE in 1960 and AGLAIA in 1964, then moving on to projects that are still competitive as SAGITTARIUS of the Italian Navy that still today compete at high levels. and then via ASTARTE II, AURIGA, CHIRONE, ATTICA, NABABBO, TIZIANA IV, SANDRA II, ISABELLA, CHAPLIN and many others.

"The beauty is not new and the new is not beautiful." He used to say and, indeed, all his design still refers to a classically pure line, with recurring motifs like the heart stern. Surely it is one of the major representatives of Italian yachting of the last century; he was a lover of "beauty" and of boats made "like the sea commands".
