The Astondoa Top Deck 40M is a 40 meter evolution of a concept created by Luiz de Basto Designs a few years ago, with an impressively wide beam of 8.20 meters. Luiz de Basto, principal of the studio, imagined a youthful, active family who prioritized togetherness on the water. He called his concept the Top Deck, featuring upper-deck bulwarks folded down. This, plus a capacious garage, made for a stronger sensation of on-sea living. The Top Deck concept became a reality thanks to the leading Spanish Shipyard Astondoa.
The Astondoa Top Deck 40M, which is being actively promoted by the yard, de Basto and their international dealer network, embraces the same fold-down bulwarks. This time, they’re on the main deck, combined with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. You effectively feel more connected to your surroundings. The lowering bulwarks add 286 square feet (26.6 square meters) of usable space.
The spacious sensation doesn’t end there. The bridge-deck master suite aboard the Astondoa Top Deck 40M has three sides of glass, sliding and folding open. Since the stateroom is situated aft, it becomes a virtual veranda. Your 12 guests don’t feel left out of enjoying better views. An observation area tucked into the bow has wrap-around ports. This area can also serve as a breakfast area, TV room, or even a lounge, with a bar conveniently to port. Even your captain can enjoy tasks more, since the wheelhouse windshield splits open vertically.
Of course, the “Top Deck” part of the Astondoa Top Deck 40M hasn’t been forgotten. Astondoa and de Basto envision cooking and dining taking place forward on the Flybridge. You and your guests can additionally lounge and soak up the sun (or soak in the hot tub) at your convenience.
The main-deck VIP, four below-deck guest staterooms, accommodations for eight crew members, and more are all open to your decor input.
This new and beautiful vessel, being presented in 2016 for Astondoa’s centennial celebration, offers the complete integration between outdoor and indoor living spaces in a beautiful way that looks almost too good to be true. The yacht incorporates the main features of the Top Deck line, such as the fold-down bulwarks, which increase the deck surface and the contact with the water, or the amazing fly bridge that extends for the entire length of the boat.
On the aft deck, this new 40 meter Superyacht boasts a double headroom, the owner’s stateroom, verandas and balconies, while the upper part of the fly bridge is protected by a hard top, which also keeps the gourmet galley, the al fresco dining and the conversation area covered. There’s even a hot tub here, surrounded by sunbathing cushions.
Top Deck 40m also benefits from a main salon, which includes floor-to-ceiling glass doors. Another interesting feature is the lowered bulwarks, which add a total of 26.60 square meters of deck at the touch of a button, while the lap pool on the aft deck will surely be appreciated.
The owner’s stateroom is to die for, so to speak, with the accommodation layout also including four guest staterooms and a VIP cabin on the main deck. The Top Deck 40m yacht will easily accommodate 12 guests, as well as a crew of 8.
The superyacht also comes with a nice Observation Room, not to mention the bar, the gym enclosed in glass and the sitting areas, with a disappearing TV.
Using the main features of the Top Deck line, the fold-down bulwarks, which increase the deck surface and the contact with the water plus a flybridge that extends for the entire length of the yacht, on this larger model, a sweeping line from bow to stern creates a double headroom on the aft deck. The Owner’s stateroom is located on the bridge deck aft to take advantage of this extra height with verandas and balconies. The conversation area on the fore deck is integrated with the flybridge on a very large outdoors living space.

DESIGN LAYOUT AND ACCOMMODATIONS COMMENTS
Design that speaks to the Owner: The upper part of the Flybridge is covered with a hard-top to protect a gourmet Galley, al-fresco Dining and a Conversation Area. At the front, there is a hot tub surrounded by sunbathing cushions. All exterior areas are connected with stairways.
Outdoors-indoors integration: The Main Salon floor-to-ceiling glass doors slide forward and disappear and the bulwarks on the main deck fold down to extend the deck area. The Owner’s Stateroom doors also slide forward and the handrail creates a balcony. The only remaining solid structures are the air-intakes on the each side. This offers unique flexibility and the feeling of a penthouse on the water.
You will appreciate the feeling as well as a total integration between outdoor and indoor living spaces. The lower bulwarks add a total of 26.6 square meters of deck space to be opened or closed at the touch of a button. The lap pool on the aft deck, above the garage door, is another convenient feature.

Owner’s Stateroom with a view: The Owner’s Stateroom is at the center of the yacht. No stairway goes over this area to insure complete privacy.
Window of opportunity: The hull window wraps the bow and brings light and views to the Observation Room full of amenities. On port side there is a Bar, on Starboard a Gym enclosed in glass and in the very front, several sitting areas to enjoy the view, have breakfast, watch a movie or play video games on a TV that folds down from the ceiling. Or do nothing, just enjoy a drink and good conversation while under way or at anchor.
The sky is the limit: The sensation looking up in the aft cockpit dining is like being in a monumental Cathedral. The upper part of the windshield slides up like a skylight and the lower part slides down to create a full open Pilot House, creating the feeling of an Open Sport Yacht.
