The Admiral 700 is a classic wooden sloop from 1990, built by the Achterbos shipyard. With a length of 7 meters and a width of 1.90 meters, this sloop offers space for 8 to 10 people. The hull has a round bilge shape, providing a stable and comfortable sailing experience on inland waters, canals, lakes, ponds, and rivers. The sloop has a draft of 60 cm and an air draft of 1.10 meters, making it suitable for various waterways. The steering is located outside and is operated via a steering wheel, with a single rudder.
Engine and Performance
The sloop is equipped with a Vetus 3-cylinder inboard diesel engine with a power of 33 hp. This engine was installed in 2018 and currently has approximately 220 running hours. The electric start system ensures easy operation. The fuel tank has a capacity of 70 liters, with an average consumption of 3 liters per hour. The cruising speed is around 10 km/h, while the maximum speed is approximately 17 km/h. For extra maneuverability, there is an electric bow thruster. The sloop is equipped with various instruments, including a fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and tachometer.
Comfort and Equipment
Designed with comfort and ease of use in mind, the sloop offers a black cushion set for comfortable seating for larger groups. Thanks to the detachable red canopy, it is possible to sail sheltered in various weather conditions. The teak deck contributes to the classic appearance and durability of the boat. Furthermore, the sloop is equipped with an electric bilge pump for water drainage, an air horn, and a phone charger to charge electronic devices. The navigation lights ensure that the sloop is well visible at dusk and in the dark.
Maintenance and Usage History
The boat was last out of the water for maintenance in 2024 and received a new antifouling treatment at that time. The sloop has mainly been used for day trips, pleasure cruising, vacations, and weekend trips in the Greater Amsterdam water area and the Ronde Venen. Thanks to the wooden hull and round bilge shape, the sloop sails smoothly and stably. The low wave action makes it ideal for quiet sailing in urban canals and nature areas. With the electric bow thruster, maneuvering is easy, even in tight sailing conditions.
