This is a strong claim for such a famed designer of bluewater cruisers!
She was built by Ta Shing, considered to be one of the best boatyards in Asia and one of the best in the world.
With a sleek hull form that emphasises sailing length and stability, they're known to perform well in a full range of sea conditions. A lead ballast is located in the very bottom of the wide fin keel increasing her stability while the rudder on a large skeg makes the helm light and extremely well balanced.
Strong on performance, as well and reliability and safety, she also offers 2 double cabins, and a generous secure galley. There is a large port side saloon U shaped settee, as well as a fore and aft settee on the starboard side, and there is easily seating below for 8 people. Lovingly cared for and maintained, she has been upgraded as needed to ensure the optimum of living and safety for the current full time liveaboard owners.
The current owners have called her home for the last 14 years, cruising together over 30,000 nautical miles.
Meikyo is setup for liveaboard cruising with 1.2KW of solar, ( that, my friends, is A LOT of solar!!), a D400 wind generator and lithium batteries. Upon inspection you will be extremely impressed by the maintenance and charm of this extremely homey yacht. Having been a HOME for 14 years, the owners have consistently upgraded and maintained her as needed. There is warmth, and a feeling of safety and sturdiness. There is an amazing amount of storage, and everything below is carefully and cleverly thought out. The forward head is currently used as storage. The engine is easily and completely accessible.
With the added protection of a hard Dodger (professionally built in New Zealand in 2016) and a hard Bimini, she offers protection from rain and sun. A diesel heating system was also added in prior to this, making sailing in colder climates most comfortable.
She is truely a boat for world cruising!
