Kingsground and Reeves Canal Narrow Boat
Renovated to a very high standard and unused since
2024 Survey available
UK mainland transport possible
Narrow boat steel hull and shell built by G & J Reeves.
Fitted out by Kingsground Narrowboats in 2001 with many extras (original documents available) and launched in 2002. Both companies are highly regarded in the UK canal boat market.
A turn-key opportunity after an extensive renovation by the current owners, the third since new. After enjoying the canals for a couple of years, brought 'Candlelight' ashore for refurbishment. Having completed that renovation and planning to go back onto the canals, they are sadly no longer able to enjoy the benefit of their substantial investment.
Pride-of-place in the renovation of this Kingsground and Reeves 60ft Canal Narrow Boat is the extensive work done in the exterior preparation and paint finishing by industry-leading technicians improving the exterior of benefit to future owners.
The hull was: shot-blasted: two coats of International Intergard 269 primer applied; followed by two coats of International's Interzone 954 which is specifically designed for the offshore/harsh marine environment.
The top-sides were finished with International Toplac paint.
Additional improvements in the renovation include:
* extensive upgrades/improvements to electrical systems and storage such as: adding solar panels; and a second four-battery bank
* new Victron battery management system and an Electrolux Travel Pack (no need for a generator)
* many new LED lamps fitted
* many domestics appliances replaced ahead of time to enhance trouble-free operation including: oven; two new 12 volt fridges each with freezer spaces; microwave.
* New flooring to the bathroom and carpeting to the bedroom.
Fitted with a bow-thruster to aid manoeuvring.
Extensive history file with original documents including EU Conformity Statements from Kingsground Narrowboats and also G & J Reeves.
This Kingsground and Reeves 60ft Canal Narrow Boat is of traditional style and has an extensive inventory of: poles; fenders; fore and aft button fenders; ropes; lock keys; lock handles; and other equipment required to enjoy the canals.
Recently services include the engine - fitted with a 'hospital silencer' - and also the Webasto heater that warms the radiators. Also recently serviced was the 'bubble' diesel-fired heater in the main cabin.
Ready to use and enjoy.
The vessel is ashore and available for viewings seven days a week by arrangement.

Accommodation and Layout
Kingsground boats are renowned for their extremely high standard of fit-out and 'Candlelight' is no exception.
At the bow are the canal light and horn ahead of the 'crache' or 'well-deck' with recent new covers and underneath is a bow-thruster with its own battery.
Moving aft through double doors and descending into the spacious main cabin with its hardwood floor there is a diesel 'bubble' heater to starboard (with its own fuel tank) and a water radiator to port that is heated by the recently-serviced Webasto unit.
There is a Satellite TV receiver and also Wi-Fi receiver equipment.
One of the extras during the original build is the very useful side door and lifting hatch.
New curtains and many new fabrics throughout the vessel.
Moving further aft is a raised area with a substantial dinner table with an inlay of the boat's 'Candlelight' motif and bench seating to either side; all of which converts to a double bed.
Aft of that is the lino-floored galley where many items have been renewed ahead of time for the anticipated forthcoming adventures on the canals. Thus many of the following are virtually unused:
* two new 12 volt refrigerators, each with a freezer compartment
* new gas oven
* new microwave
* new washing machine.
A space-saving sliding wooden partition leads into the bathroom area.
The bathroom area has an electric toilet with its own black-water tank, and a manual pump that helps reduce/eliminate fees at pump-out stations. The following are also fitted: towel-rail: shower; washing machine; and hand-basin. The Corian surfaces have rolled edges.
A further sliding wooden partition provides privacy.
The bedroom has a full-length double bed across the boat (part of the bed's base slides out to create the full length). A hot water tank under the double-bed is connected to the engine's keel-cooled system, utilising heat from the engine.
There is extensive storage and a delightful 'lady' drawer to one of the drawer units.
Still going aft and up some steps onto the (rare) two-person width command bridge. On the port side, the boat's system information and engine controls are located. These include the Victron battery management charging controls, and an Electrolux power pack that creates 3.5 KVA 250 volt main power when the engine is running.
The rear doors on the bridge, on the outside, are painted with the 'Candlelight' motif.
The bridge has a recent rain cover and the tiller has some decorative features.
Also, there is an anchor and chain plus a bicycle rack.
Electrical and Electronic
Tunnel light and horn at bow.
Many new internal LED lamps and some new lights.
The bow thruster has its own dedicated 12 volt battery.
New Solar panels can create a 15 Amp charge when the weather is appropriate.
The 'standard' installation has a 4-battery bank for domestic use and 'Candlelight' now has an extra 4-battery bank fitted.
The Beta engine has its own dedicated 12 volt battery.
The Victron battery management system takes electrical feeds from: the solar panels; and/or the shore-power and/or the engine alternator to 'smooth' and maintain the charging of the different batteries.
The Electrolux Travel Pack has a substantial electrical output of 240 Volt and 3.5 KVA when the engine is running.
A Galvanic Isolator is fitted.
