Bruce Roberts Mauritius 43 steel ketch. Owner is very motivated to sell and open to offers. This one-off sailing yacht was build in Aalborg 96/97, and named ORBIT as she was build for circumnavigation. She has been well maintained and underwent a thorough renovation in the spring of 2022. The interior layout was designed for optimal usage of space with high quality woodwork and plenty of room for storage. The Mauritius 43 also benefits from a newly renovated 110 HP inboard BMC diesel engine and a new PRM gearbox.
Besides providing a sturdy blue water passage this steel ketch offers plenty of living space, a foam isolated hull, thermo windows and a centrally placed oil oven, why it is equally well suited to serve as a houseboat.
The Bruce Roberts Mauritius 43 offers spacious accommodation with 7 berths in 3 cabins, with good headroom. A forward cabin with 2 separate berths and good storage space, a central cabin to port with a double bed, wardrobe and storage space, and the master cabin aft with a double bed, wardrobe and plenty of storage space. All mattresses and cushions are brand new.
There are two heads with sinks and marine toilets, the aft with a shower. Plenty of storage space both places.
The electrical switch panel is situated at a centrally placed chart table along with the VHF radio, a removable chartplotter, and displays for engine temperature, revolution counter, engine hour counter, oil pressure, and generated electric power.
A fully equipped galley is situated to starboard, with a stainless steel sink, cold and warm water, a new 2-burner gas hob with oven, a new 12V fridge, and plenty of storage space in drawers and cupboards. The central saloon to port features a large U-shaped settee and a long bench to starboard which converts to a berth. The saloon offers a remarkable view of the surroundings through 9 large thermo windows.
Specifics
Hull
Steel hull with long keel and center cockpit. The underwater part of the hull was cleaned, painted, and new zinc was added in June 2022. The main mast extend 10 meter above deck.

Engine
The old Leyland engine has been replaced by a newly renovated 110 HP BMC 6.98 fresh water cooled diesel engine and a new PRM 500D gearbox, which were installed in the spring of 2022. They turn a 3 bladed bronze propeller through a conventional shaft drive. Engine access from both sides. Cruising speed ~ 7 knots, with a max speed around 9 knots.
Electricity
The electrical installations underwent total renovation in the spring of 2022, with new wiring, switches, and lightning. 12V system with convertor for shore power. Master switches for power and engine. Electric power is provided by a start battery which also drives an electric bow thruster and a consumer battery. Two generators ensure that the batteries are recharged when the engine is running. In harbour a shore power connection and a battery charger assure battery power. A new inverter for the generation of 220V from 12V has been installed.
The Simrad Cruise 5 chartplotter.
the Cobra MRF77 VHF, and the Stereo Radio/CD player are all new.
Speakers are built into the saloon wall.
Navigation lights.
Shore supply cable with CE-adapter.
Heating
A centrally placed diesel oven (Flex) ensure a comfortable climate throughout the year.
An electrical water-heater is situated in front of the engine room.
Tank capacities
The 3 x 110 liter fresh water tanks and the 3 x 110 liter diesel tanks are made of stainless steel and placed under the floor along the hull, three on each side. The engine is feed by a 110 liters diesel tank situated behind and above the gearbox. A large holding tank is placed centrally under the floor.
Sail and rigging
Ketch rigged, both the main and the mizzen mast are made of stainless steel and both have mast steps. Wire standing rigging. 2 roller furlings in front.
All running rigging leads to the central cockpit, where they are trimmed by 7 high quality 2-speed winches. Roller genoa, roller foresail, storm jib, top sails, main sail, mizzen sail. Sail area 100 m2
Deck
3 Skylights ensure natural light and good internal circulation. Large storage rooms fore-and-aft with deck access through stainless steel hatches. 2 spacious storage boxes in metal are situated at each side of the u-shaped stern bench. Bathing platform with ladder and stainless steel davits. 4 different types of anchors, 40m chain, manual anchor windlass. 50m lead-containing line with 4m chain for use with stern anker. All deck fitting are made of stainless steel.
