Owners Comments / History / Upgrades

We purchased in Portugal May2010.

We would come over for two months each year, either May June or September October, and gradually sailed her across the Mediterranean. This was a wonderful experience.

We arrived in Greece in 2016 and she has remained in the Ionian Islands ever since.

During the winters she is stored on the hard at Cleopatra Marina with tarps covering the cockpit and decks. This has preserved the teak in the cockpit and protected the window, port lights and decks. The spray hood and bimini are removed and stored inside the boat.

Over the years we have replaced or added many items to the boat. The following is a summary of those items.

Anchoring System

We replaced the 15K Delta anchor with a 20K Rocna.

The Delta is now a secondary anchor with 50 feet of chain, and 200 feet of nylon rode.

This is stored in a container in the port cockpit locker.

We replaced the chain on the Rocna in 2019. It is now 80 meters of chain.

New windlass was installed in Lefkas in2022. It is a Quick 1000w which was an upgrade from the 700w.

There is a remote anchor switch and counter at the helm.

There are two new 2024 yellow floating shorelines. Each are 50 meters.

There is also a four meter strap which we use to stern tie to rocks or trees.

There are also two mooring lines with large stainless steel springs that can be used If the boat is left in the water for any period of time.

Sails, Rigging and related equipment.

The standing rigging was replaced in 2016 in Malta. The new rigging was supplied by Beneteau.

The facnor furling drum was replaced at that time with a larger drum.

A new steaming light and deck light were installed.

New sails were made in Malta in 2016. This has been a big improvement with sail handling, and the mainsail furls easily.

Two Anderson 46 ST winches were installed in the cockpit to allow for better control of the jib sheets.

Cabin

Two new overhead lights were installed in the saloon.

Cabin fans were installed in the forward and aft cabins. These were specifically designed for boats. They are quiet and have low power consumption.

All lights in the cabin and saloon are LED.

An 80W solar panel which is more than sufficient to supply power when at anchor.

When leaving the boat over the winter we shut off the power switches in the aft cabin and turn on the Solar panel. The panel is wired directly to the batteries and this keeps the batteries topped up over the winter.

A large Holding tank was installed in the locker in the Head. The advantage of this Installation is that it does not require a macerator or a pump. The discharge is by gravity. We open the discharge seacock when underway and the suction from the Water passing the seacock creates suction which assists the discharge.

New Galley tap installed in 2022.

New Jabsco pump for the toilet installed in 2019.

Electrical System

The house and starter batteries and the battery charger were replaced in 2022.

Safety Equipment

Man Overboard equipment with floating marker pole Six Lifejackets, two new in 2022, two had firing mechanisms replaced in 2022, and older ones.

Fire Blanket by the stove.

All fire extinguishers were replaced in 2022.

New VHF was installed with GPS and DSC.

Standard Horizon GX 1700 E(2013)

New ICOM handheld VHF 2024

Vesper AIS transmit and receive. This installation includes a separate antenna at the masthead Lifelines were replaced by Waypoint in Lefkas 2017

New gas regulator 2022

There is a Zodiac Life raft, however the last service was in approximately 2014 It is well out of date. It is stored in a case in the cockpit locker, and has never been stored on deck.

Engine

The engine is a 28HP Volvo MD 2030, 3 cylinder diesel. The engine does not have a turbo , which is good.

A temperature gauge was installed to backup the overheating alarm

A new raw water strainer was added in 2011

A new Racor fuel filter was installed

A new tach was installed in 2016. The engine hours in the new tach is approximately 160 hrs. The engine hours when we purchased the boat was1450. We therefore estimate the engine hours to be approximately 2000 hours.

The raw water heating system was removed and cleaned in 2022, including a new water pump, impeller, hoses and coolant.

A new exhaust elbow was installed in 2022

The engine is flushed with fresh water at the time of haulout and the engine oil and filter are replaced at that time.

There is a large box of tools and spare parts including impellers, fuel and oil filters, fan belts, anodes

Outboard engine

3.5HP Tohatsu was service in2024 .

However the mechanic has recommended a new carburettor.

Additional Items

There are two full size mountain bikes which are stored in the large starboard cockpit locker.

The boat comes fully equipped with with dishes ,cutlery ,linens ,duvets ,and four folding cockpit cushions.

There is also a passeralle that attaches to the bow or stern. We quite often come bow to into marinas as that allows for greater privacy in the cockpit

Navigation

We do not have a fixed chart plotter.

The system that we use is an IPad with Navionics.

When we arrive each year  in Greece we purchase  local SIM card through COSMOTE. The cost is usually 15 euros. The IPad then serves us for navigation ,emails, and weather updates through various apps. The IPad is attaches to the console with a mount. We installed a 12 volt outlet at the helm so the IPad has constant power.

The IPad and mount are not included.

Manufacturer Provided Description

The Beneteau Oceanis series combines the latest in design technology, and hundreds of hours of engineering which results in yachts that can set sail for all ports of call around the world with ease. The hull of the Oceanis 351 offers her owner a very maneuverable boat under power and sail. Her taut lines, maximum waterline length and her wide beam ensure excellent stability. The bulb keel with winglets is designed for performance and the highly pronounced forefoot cuts an easy passage through the waves. The deck is free of all lines through the addition of a false deck cowling which covers the halyards and maneuvering lines. These are brought back to a battery of stoppers and onto two self-tailing winches either side of the companionway. The main and genoa sheet tracks are mounted on the coachroof thereby leaving the cockpit and side decks completely free. Setting the sail is child's play, with both main and genoa featuring roller furling systems. The Oceanis 351's large salon has an attractive large wooden table, surrounded by a comfortable U-shaped settee. The table can be transformed into a double berth, if needed. The galley fully utilizes the space offered by its location at the maximum beam of the boat. Light and ventilation are ensured via fixed ports, as well as several opening ports, a large opening hatch, and two bright skylights in the coachroof. The Oceanis 351 offers an enormous cockpit, where comfort and safety are enhanced by the teak decking that covers the seating. From a comfortable position at the helm, the skipper is able to see any navigational instruments on the console at a glance. The engine control panel, within easy reach, is protected by a Plexiglas panel. The aft seat is hinged, allowing direct access to the transom and to the big bathing platform. The cockpit shower in the transom is a luxury that will be appreciated by everyone. The Oceanis 351 is a cruising boat that offers not only ease of handling and spacious living, but also great performance.
