The perfect blue water cruiser is the subject of many a yacht club bar discussion. But the yachtie barflies often have to declare a truce because there are so many factors to consider: outstanding handling and sea-worthiness should be taken as read, as should extra large tankage for fuel and water; a great comfort ratio; a flexible sailplan and of course safe decks / handholds. All of these are crucial and the Tayana 58 passes them with flying colours. But where Astraea beats the competition is the fact that she's got no proving to do, as she has already sailed half way round the world - proving her metal in some of the most challenging seas on earth.
Custom built in 2008 by Ta Yang yachts of Taiwan, she was collected by the current owner and his wife in Hong Kong, where she was fitted out with her sails, electronics and soft furnishings - and from there was sailed all the way to Gocek by way of the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Oman, Yemen, The Red Sea, Egypt (via the Suez Canal) and lastly Cyprus before reaching her destination in Turkey........9,000 miles in eight months! Proof (if any were needed) that you don't need a full crew to sail the world. It certainly helped that all the control lines end up on four electric winches in the brilliantly protective cockpit and that she has a self tacking staysail - but there you have it : a beautiful, hand crafted blue water yacht with its very own test certificate!
.....which leads me to ask one last question: where in the world will you be taking her?
Why not call me to discuss your plans and to arrange a viewing in Turkey?

I have been fortunate enough not only to personally acquaint myself with this lovely boat but also to meet the owner and his wife on board her.
Astraea is a blue water cruiser like no other - as her journey from the other side of the world bears witness. The fact that it was completed without a hitch with just her 'senior' husband and wife as main crew speaks volumes about not only her build quality but also her ease of sail.
If you are after a TRUE blue water cruiser, I cannot recommend Astraea higher to you.
