The Pintail 27 was built in the 1970s at the Rossiter boatyard in England, over specified and of robust quality, seaworthy with Lloyds 100 A1 Yacht certificate. Hull and deck are made of polyester, characteristic are the solid varnished wooden parts, such as the cockpit, foot and handrail, deck hatch, etc. With the long keel and bilge keels, upright drying out is possible, which makes the Pintail very suitable for exploring tidal waters such as for example the Wadden Sea. This Pintail is one of the few models equipped with a wooden gaff rigging and mast lowering system. The jib and staysail are both furling and can be operated from the cockpit. The anchor is hauled in with the manual windlass on the foredeck. The cockpit is low, but well sheltered behind the roof and cockpit coaming. The mainsail can also be reefed by partially rolling it onto the furling boom. This Pintail was sold to the Netherlands in 1978 and has been in the possession of the current and second owner since 2002. The Lister Petter diesel engine receives annual maintenance and is in good working condition. The Pintail 27 is stored inside for the winter and is presently back at her summer mooring.
The interior is fitted with solid mahogany and looks spacious thanks to the elevated topside with a headroom of approximately 1.80 m. Next to the cabin entrance on the SB side there is a hanging locker with a stow away chart table. On the port side is a very functionally equipped galley, with sink, compressor cool box, gimballed stove and various storage options for kitchen utensils. The SB and PS settee benches can also be used as berths, with plenty of cupboard space behind the backrest. Above the starboard settee is an extra roll-up root berth. The cabin and front hut are separated by a hanging closet on the port side and the Heads on starboard side. The sink is slides away when using the toilet. The v-bed with infill provides a spacious bed for two people, for which the guide of the anchor chain can be removed. The smart design makes the Pintail a versatile sailing yacht.
De Pintail 27 is in de jaren zeventig bij de Rossiter werf in Engeland gebouwd, overmaats en van robuuste kwaliteit, zeewaardig met Lloyds 100 A1 Yacht certificaat. Romp en dek zijn van polyester, kenmerkend zijn de massief gelakte houten onderdelen, zoals de kuip, voet – en handrail, dekluik e.d. Met de lange kiel en kimkielen is rechtop droogvallen goed mogelijk, wat de Pintail zeer geschikt maakt voor het verkennen van getijdewater zoals bijvoorbeeld de Waddenzee. Deze Pintail is een van de weinige modellen die met een strijkbaar houten gaffeltuig is uitgerust. De fok en kluiver zijn beide rolreef en kunnen vanuit de kuip bedient worden. Het anker wordt opgehaald met de handmatige ankerlier op het voordek. De kuip is laag, maar goed beschut achter de opbouw en hoge kuipranden. Het grootzeil kan tevens gereefd worden door deze gedeeltelijk op de giek te rollen. Deze Pintail is in 1978 naar Nederland verkocht en sinds 2002 in bezit van de huidige en tevens tweede eigenaar. De Lister Petter dieselmotor krijgt jaarlijks onderhoud en is in goede werking. De Pintail staat ’s winters binnen in een stalling en is momenteel weer op haar zomerligplaats te bezichtigen.
Het interieur is fraai betimmerd met massief mahonie en oogt ruim dankzij de verhoogde opbouw met een stahoogte van ca. 1,80m. Naast de kajuitingang bevind zich aan stuurboord een hangkast met wegklapbare kaartentafel. Aan bakboord is een zeer functioneel ingerichte kombuis, met spoelbak, compressor koelbox, cardanisch kooktoestel en diverse opbergmogelijkheden voor kommaliewant. De langsbanken kunnen ook als kooien gebruikt worden, met achter de rugleuning veel kastruimte. Boven de stuurboord langsbank is nog een extra oprolbare loodskooi. De kajuit en voorhut worden van elkaar gescheiden door een hangkast aan bakboord en aan stuurboord een natte cel. De wastafel kan bij gebruik van het toilet worden ingeschoven. Het v-bed met passtuk voorziet in een ruime slaapplaats voor twee personen, waarbij de geleider van de ankerketting kan worden weggenomen. Het doordachte ontwerp maakt de Pintail tot een onderscheidend zeiljacht.
