Construction

RCD Status: Our understanding is that the yacht is exempt from the essential safety requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive as she was built and placed into use within the EU prior to 1998.

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Tradition round-bilged Nelson hull form in GRP, stiffened by substantial bulkheads, ribs and longitudinal stringers, with heavy duty engine bearers.
  • Moulded by the Tyler Boat Co. Ltd. of Tonbridge, with GRP superstructure moulding by Seaward Marine of Guernsey – fitted out by J.M. Sugrue (Britannia Group PLC) of Cheltenham, commissioned 1989 and refitted by McGruer & Co. in 1998.
  • Hull topsides in Dark Blue gel coat with varnished teak rubbing strakes and teak detailing fitted to the hull top sides and transom.
  • Red antifouling (2024) with a white gloss boot top.
  • Cathodic protection.
  • Ambassador rope cutters (2021).
  • Heavy duty black rubber D-fendering at hull/deck joint.
  • Superstructure and coach roof in GRP with white gel coat with varnished teak edging and detailing.
  • Fore and side decks finished with Clay Treadmaster and the aft deck with solid laid teak (sanded and caulked as necessary – 2023).
  • Alloy framed windows and glazing in toughened glass.
  • Opening deck hatches.
  • Stainless steel and teak bathing platform/boarding ladder.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • Twin Ford Sabre 300 turbo-charged and intercooled 6.8 Litre displacement 6-cylinder straight diesels coupled to MG 506-1A Twin Disc gear boxes with 1.97 reduction.
  • Engine numbers 6651 & 6652.
  • New drive block rubbers fitted 2023 for smooth drive engagement.
  • Indicated hours logged – 1500 (approx. 50 since remanufacture).
  • New VDO lower tachos fitted c. 12 hours ago, with Wema gauges for tanks, etc. (2021).
  • Engine bay beneath the wheelhouse, fully panelled floor with removable steel bearers.
  • Flexible engine mounts (2021) fixed to substantial integrated longitudinal engine beds.
  • Raw water heat exchange, via heavy duty raw water intakes - with composite seawater engine thru-hulls and new strainers fitted 2021.
  • 5” wet exhausts port and starboard discharging underwater, with branch exhausts to waterline outlets for low power running and operation at idle.
  • Engine bay cleaned and repainted in white Danboline (2021); new lighting fitted 2021.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

  • Engines remanufactured by Timik in 2021:
  • Quoted top speed – 20kts.
  • Quoted cruise – 14 knots.

 

All our engines are stripped and inspected, the fuel injection equipment is remanufactured, a remanufactured turbocharger is fitted, the engine block is bored, liners fitted and bored back to standard, Main bearing housing line honed, connecting rods honed and new bushes fitted, new pistons and rings fitted, crankshaft ground new bearings fitted, cylinder head is remanufactured having valve seats re cut and new valves fitted if necessary, a new oil pump and water pump fitted and all new gaskets fitted, front Pulley replaced, Fuel lift pump replaced on one engine and repaired on the other, The engines are re assembled in our clean workshop using the correct procedures and tolerances.

 

Marine parts:

  1. New gearbox oil coolers fitted.
  2. One Jabsco replaced, the other a repair kit and bearings fitted.
  3. All new silicon hoses fitted and stainless clips.
  4. New air filters fitted and bracket made.
  5. New Heat exchangers fitted as complete units.
  6. New intercooler tube stacks fitted (x4) 1x intercooler hosing replaced.
  7. Oil coolers chemically cleaned and tested.
  8. New fuel filter assemblies fitted.
  9. Hydraulic hoses replaced.
  10. New pressure switches fitted to the engine, starter motor and alternator remanufactured.
  11. Engine mounting brackets checked over and repaired.

 

The engine has then dynamometer tested for at least 4 hours and painted ready for delivery.

 

We are a member of the federation of engine manufacturers; therefore, our remanufactured engines are required to meet a certain standard under BSI AU 257:2002, set by British Standard Automobile Series code of practice.

 

Propulsion & Steering:

  • Kobelt 2090 single-lever remote gear-throttles (fitted 2021 by Helmsman Systems Ltd.) with a control panel, start/stop and warning gauges for each engine at both helm stations.
  • Teleflex Sea Star twin station hydraulic steering, with copper and flexible hoses.
  • Steering gear & stern thruster is readily accessible through aft cabin furniture.
  • Twin stainless-steel rudders are fitted through glassed-in tubes and lip seals with remote greasers (rudders, shafts and props removed 2021 for repacking and new inboard and outboard cutless bearings fitted to port and starboard drive trains – 2021).
  • Emergency steering.
  • 2 x 3-bladed 25” x 25” .65DAR Michigan bronze propellers (2023).
  • 2&1/4” stainless steel drive shafts running through cutless bearings (2021) via stainless steel P-brackets.
  • New PSS seals (21/4” shaft diam.) fitted 2023.
  • MG Duff brush anode kits fitted 2023 to both shafts.
  • Ambassador rope cutters (2021).
  • Sleipner Side Power 60kgf 24V bow thruster installed 2021 (new eyebrows moulded at tube fit for maximum efficiency) – forward keel water tank modified to accept tube.
  • Sleipner Side Power 60kgf 24V stern thruster installed 2021 (transom strengthened accordingly).
  • Joystick controls at the upper helm – with remote Sleipner pendant for lower helm and on-deck operation.
  • Upper helm fitted with an alloy windscreen glazed with toughened glass.
  • Grammer suspension pedestal seats (with harnesses!) for helm and navigator at lower helm (re-furbished and re-covered 2022).
  • Upholstered Plastimo helm seat (2022) for helm at upper console.
  • Bennett trim tabs fitted to lower helm (with indicators)

Electrical Systems

Voltage Systems:

  • 24V electrical DC ships supply.
  • 12V dedicated droppers for navigational kit, with dedicated 12V battery & charger (2021).

 

Battery Banks:

  • Batteries all renewed in 2021 refit and re-located to central & aft engine room in 2021.
  • 12V domestic cells connected in series parallel as 24V supply.
  • 12V engine cranking batteries wired as 24V supply with parallel capability.
  • Generator cranking via 12V dedicated starting battery with isolation switch.

 

Battery Chargers/Inverters:

  • Sterling Power Pro-Charge 24/20 Smart charger to starboard engine bay (new 2021).
  • Victron 12V charger for 12V circuits fitted 2021.
  • Victron Energy Phoenix 12/1200 Inverter (2024) – with dedicated red sockets to galley, wheelhouse, and aft cabin.

 

Alternators:

  • Alternator fitted to each engine.

 

Generator:

  • Beta Gen. 10kW 4-pole generator set (runs at half normal revs of 1500rpm) installed in sounds enclosure at aft central engine room.
  • New wiring harness and controller fitted at galley (2021).
  • Engine cooling via spur from port main engine cooling circuit.

 

Shore Power:

  • Shore power inlet at upper helm station, with cable.
  • 240V AC ring main with outlets throughout.

Plumbing Systems

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

  • Hot & cold pressurized water system (new freshwater pressure pump 2021).
  • Water heated via engine heat exchange calorifier & 240V immersion heater.
  • Freshwater tap installed to engine room for flushing/cleaning (2021).

 

Bilge Pumps:

  • 6 x automatic electric pumps (displayed/switched at console), and 1 x manual bilge pumps.
  • Pumps to forward, engine bay and aft bilges.

Tankage

Fuel:

  • Fuel capacity in 3 tanks (200-gallon keel & 2 x 100-gallon wings) – c.1820 litre total capacity.
  • C.680 nm range at 12 knots.
  • Central inline moulded GRP keel tanks, with gravity-feed GRP wing tanks to aft cabin (new control cocks 2021).
  • Independent or switchable fuel supply system.
  • Tanks cleaned and new stainless-steel lids and seals fitted in 2021, with new fuel lines to engines, generator, and heater, running via new filters, and Parker 500FG Racors to engines.
  • Separate manual rotary KO fuel pump fitted 2021 for manual fuel pumping as required.

 

Fresh Water:

  • 550 litre total capacity.
  • GRP freshwater tanks moulded into the forward bilge under the galley and forward cabin sole.
  • Deck-wash & screen wash system.

 

Grey/Blackwater Holding Tanks:

  • Black water tank fitted with deck pump-out facility and thru-hull discharge.
  • New holding tank evacuation pump fitted 2021.

Navigation Equipment

Wheelhouse helm:

  • The interior is finished in teak veneered cabinetry to, finished to a very high original level.
  • The wheelhouse is accessed through a pair of teak companionway doors (glazed).
  • Grey sectioned carpeting to wheelhouse and patterned burgundy carpets to cabins.
  • Main helm console and seat is located forward to port, with a chart table area and matching navigators seat to starboard. Saloon electrical panel with remote isolators, etc. below the chart table.
  • Helm and navigator Grammer adjustable suspension seats with seat belts/harness for more challenging weather!
  • Blue velour upholstery to L-shaped wheelhouse seating to starboard (with generous and practical stowage beneath each squab), stowable chart table to port has been removed, but is available at sale, and are all de-mounted interior doors and davits.
  • Roller blinds to wheelhouse side windows.
  • Main 24VDC breaker panel located at the port side of the companionway steps down to the galley in a steel box with protective door.
  • Generator start/stop and AC gauges at galley.
  • The wheelhouse can be completely isolated from the forward accommodation, and aft cabin, with sliding hatches and teak doors.
  • Drinks and bottle stowage in beautifully built pull-out locker at aft companionway.
  • Stairs down forward to the galley (starboard side), with a convertible dining area to port.
  • Plentiful storage behind dinette cushions, and infill to make occasional double berth.
  • Forward of the dinette is a teak door leading to the forward suite.
  • Dressing table/bureau to port with fold-out vanity mirrors, stool and hanging locker.
  • Heads is
  • A further teak door separates the forward cabin – which has two single berths port and starboard, with escape hatch and associated bracketed steps.
  • Storage lockers port and starboard (all well-finished), with a forward central locker, bookshelves, cupboards, drawers, and access through forward bulkhead to the anchor chain locker (illuminated).
  • Patterned curtains to side windows, reading lights and overhead opening deck-hatch.
  • Aft cabin access via companionway stair from aft port wheelhouse, with three steps down into lobby area with hanging locker, storage lockers, patterned curtains to side windows and reading light. Left turn into aft cabin proper.
  • The forward bulkhead is a double hanging wardrobe – with secret deep locker space beneath – of beautifully book-marked solid timber construction.
  • Massive bulkhead strength, a double berth to the port side, single berth/long seat to starboard an intricately inlaid bureau/writing desk to the central aft bulkhead.
  • Aft ensuite to starboard with WC, sink, shower, and cupboards (WC plumbed to holding tank).
  • All steering gear is readily accessible, as are wing tanks valve cocks.
  • New Nautolex vinyl head linings and backing boards to aft cabin and wheelhouse (2022), with spare roll of Nautolex lining to be included in sale inventory.

Deck Equipment

General:

  • Stainless steel pulpit with stainless steel side rails – topped with teak taff rails (covered).
