Construction
Construction: Hershine 53 Extended Deck version, built by Her Shine Marine CO LTD in 1989 #8101D989 Note: Prosecco is exempt from the EU’s Recreational Craft Directive of 1998 and needs no CE certification. Many of her sisterships currently offered for sale in the US and elsewhere may require CE-compliance work before legally entering EU waters. The hull is constructed of approximately 1” thick solid hand-laid GRP laminate. The thickness of the hull when compared to modern ‘pared-back’ structures and the high quality of the construction means that the inevitable high moisture contents or even osmotic blistering frequently found in yachts of this age are fairly inconsequential. The superstructure is also solid GRP laminate whereas the deck areas are GRP with a balsa core to improve stiffness in the structure without increasing weight (an important consideration with vessels of a relatively high freeboard such as Prosecco). The balsa core also offers added insulation against sound and heat, especially relevant in warmer climates. The GRP flybridge; an optional extra on earlier Hatteras 53s is accessed from the aft deck via a stainless steel ladder. The decks and forward coachroof top are GRP with a non-slip finish. The aft deck/cockpit and flybridge have teak-laid flooring with well-adhered individual teak planking. The hull, deck, superstructure, and flybridge are finished in white gelcoat. Blue Banding below the gunwale. External trim is mostly high-quality stainless steel with solid teak guardrails and external doors. All external windows are tinted safety glass with anodized aluminum frames Bronze Rudders Aluminuium fuel tanks LOA: 16.2m (17.20m with swim platform)Beam: 4.8mDisplacement: 26,000 kgFreeboard forward: 2.5mFreeboard aft: 1.9mCabin headroom: 6'6" Bridge Clearance: 17'2"
