Marketing Description
'Swallow' is an excellent example of the ever popular mid range cruiser from the renowned builders Hallberg-Rassy. This model was in production between 1982 and 1994 with 571 being built. 'Swallow' is number 523 and was built and launched in 1993.
Upgraded over the years including 'Copper Coat', new autopilot, hot pressurised water, Mikuni heating, upgraded standing rigging, new saildrive seal and much much more.
Her teak decks are in fine order and she has the added bonus of a full cockpit enclosure.
Mechanical
'Swallow' is fitted with an 18hp, 2-cylinder Volvo Penta MD2002 with saildrive unit and 2-Blade folding propeller. The engine has completed 1833 serviced hours with most recent in April 2024.
The engine is located beneath the companionway. This allows easy access for daily checks and servicing requirements. The saildrive and stop cock are accessed from the cockpit through a hinged watertight hatchway. Engine start panel built into cockpit coamings. Sail drive seal replaced within the last 5 years.
Bank of 3X12V batteries providing engine start and domestic power. The batteries are fitted with key style isolators on both the domestic and engine side. Vessel is fitted with shore power and a battery charger.

Rigging
Bermudan masthead sloop rig with deck stepped aluminium spars by Selden. Stainless steel standing rigging replaced in 2017. Terylene braid on braid running rigging brought aft with a series of turning blocks, deck organisers and spinlock clutches. All winches are by Lewmar and include ST40 2-speed. self tailing sheet winches, ST16 2-speed halyard and spinnaker winches and a mast mounted single speed reefing winch. Inner forestay attachment and rigging added in 2018.
Sails are in excellent condition with a boom mounted Hood slab reefing mainsail, a Hood roller furling genoa. Mainsail is mounted in a HR branded lazy jack bag and the genoa is fitted with a UV strip. Storm jib for inner forestay.

Accommodation
Below decks is in superb condition with spacious saloon and a comfortable fore cabin. The interior is what you would expect from a builder of this pedigree and features solid teak pieces and teak veneered marine ply. Easy clean GRP inner hull and roof liner with built in lights. Upholstery is original but in excellent condition. New carpets in saloon. Hot & Cold pressurised water introduced in 2017.

Construction
GRP constructed vessel with 1.60M draft long fin with encapsulated ballast. Counter and skeg mounted rudder with varnished tiller steering. Her underwater areas were taken back to the gelcoat and she was Copper Coated by local boatyard in 2020. The boat comes ashore every year for a wash and a burnish with anodes checked/replaced.
White gelcoat topsides with signature Hallberg-Rassy blue hull band. Moulded rubbing strakes from forward of mid-ships aft with steel band. Hull topsides were professionally polished in May 2024.
Teak topped raised gunwale around the decks with scuppers to quickly dispel any water. Raised foredeck with Hatch to fore cabin. Bow with anchor locker and Anchorman deck mounted manual windlass.
Teak decks in excellent condition. Cockpit with teak topped lockers and cockpit sole. Transom with stainless steel ladder.
