Originally conceived in 1968 as an evolution of the ‘Diamond II’ model, the Halcyon 27 quickly gained popularity and saw the production of approximately 200 units by Offshore Yachts. Boasting a full keel and a transom hung rudder, these vessels offer great performance for cruising in various weather conditions.
Currently moored in Town Quay Marina in Southampton and ready to view now, she has benefitted recently from a new battery charger, full engine rebuild a couple of years ago to her Yanmar 1gm, very tidy down below, great family yachts that offer everything you need to go sailing at such good value.

Jalcyon is a Halcyon 27 sailing yacht built by Offshore Yachts to Alan Buchanan design in approx 1968. Jalcyon was the 2nd boat made and first out of the mould. As such she was generously over specified and laid up a little more solidly. She also benefits from a lot more teak work than later Halcyon 27's.
Jalcyon has enjoyed a much loved and admired life. One of her previous owners was Phillip Dunn the then editor of Sailing Today magazine, and as such she featured regularly in the magazine at the time. In the late 1990's Phillip took 6 years to completely strip down the interior to the hull and rebuilt / replaced to a very high standard and the current engine was fitted.
In 2001 he sailed Jalcyon around the full coast of Britain including the north coast of Scotland. More recently she has had a more leisurely life in the Solent.
The Halcyon 27 offers the seagoing yachtsman an all weather boat which is a great combination of performance, comfortable accommodation and good looks. 27ft in length.
Long Keel with tiller steering she is very easy to sail even single handed. With over 6ft headroom inside the accommodation is surprisingly spacious. The 2 cabin berths have "hoof holes" extending their length to well beyond 6 foot.
She is in good condition and all ready to sail and use, the hull could probably do with a repaint and a bit of varnishing to make her look a bit smarter, but a very solid boat with a lot of extras for the money.-
