A Bruce Farr design built by BSI in Sweden to the highest standards. The quality of the construction is evident throughout. This Bruce Farr 64 is a fantastic opportunity for those looking for a comfortable and capable blue water cruiser which is equally suitable for cruising in the Mediterranean. Big enough to sail in complete comfort and luxury but still manageable shorthanded. Hydraulic in-mast and jib furlers as well as a captive mainsheet make her easy to sail from the cockpit. She is in her current ownership for over 10 years and has been primarily sailed in the Mediterranean although she is readily equipped for long distance cruising with her large diesel capacity, lithium-ion domestic battery bank, water maker, air conditioning and independent diesel heating. She is extremely well specified with a long list of additional options.

She has a well thought through interior layout which is both well finished and extremely ergonomic. Light and airy deck saloon with a large dining table, chart table, storage and kitchen amidships. Master cabin with en suite bathroom forward of the mast with a single bunk cabin leading forward of that to the workshop which can also be accessed via a through deck hatch. Day heads and single berth in aft passageway. One twin and one double aft with third bathroom. Tecma freshwater flush toilets throughout. Machinery is all easily accessible for maintenance.

Since purchase, her current owner has continued to upgrade the yacht. In 2014 a new engine and generator were installed (both have seen modest use since). In 2015 a new carbon mast was installed and all Raymarine navigation equipment was upgraded. 2021 saw the batteries upgraded to lithium-ion. New 12.5mm teak was laid on the majority of the deck and a fuel cleaning system was installed in 2024. For the full list of upgrades, machinery and inventory see below in the detailed specification. Viewings are highly recommended.

DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION

The hull is of a single skin solid laminate in the central regions below the waterline with the remainder and topsides in a sandwich construction using a Divinycell core that is fitted using vacuum techniques. Multiaxial matting is used with isophalic vinylester resin with E glass. The hull is finished in grey gelcoat with coloured boot topping and claret cove line. She was wrapped in 2020. Internally, the hull is top coated throughout.

An internal bottom grid is laid up over a female mould and then laminated into the base of the hull providing stiffness throughout the whole structure. The hull is formed with an integral keel stub to which the lead keel is through bolted. This also forms the separate engine and main bilge sumps.

The main bulkheads are made of marine grade veneered plywood and laminated on both sides to the hull and deck. The hull is reinforced to fit the bolted custom-designed chain plates. The backstay chain plates are bolted to the reinforced bulkheads in the lazarette. The loads of all rigging and deck fittings are distributed through the hull via changes in the layup of the affected areas.

The engine and generator beds are of GRP with steel inserts for engine mount fittings.

The deck is of a GRP sandwich construction with a Divinycell core using unidirectional and CSM with isophalic vinylester resin. It is bolted to the hull at 150mm centres all around the edge. The deck is laid using 12.5mm teak planking. Most of the teak deck was replaced in 2024.

Detailed margins are laid around hatches, chain plates and major deck fittings. The foredeck and cockpit areas are laid in a recess to keep a flush effect and assist with cleaning. A teak capping is fixed on top of the cockpit coaming and the bulwark.

High density core inserts are placed in areas of high loading and where deck fittings are through bolted. Two 35mm deck drain fittings drain the water to the through hull fittings in the transom. Four 50mm cockpit drain fittings drain the water from the forward cockpit to the through hull fittings in

the hull and the water from the aft cockpit drains to the fittings in the transom.

There is a large self-draining anchor locker forward with an intermediate teak floor. Located immediately after this is the sail locker/workshop fitted with a workbench, storage lockers and a service locker for the Lewmar bow thruster. Access to this area is provided via the Rondal deck hatch or from the internal accommodation.

The aft deck contains one large Rondal watertight access hatch to the large lazarette space with steering gear beneath. The Rondal hatch is secured with locks and is fitted with a self-draining gutter. Portside of the deck, at the galley area, a separate dedicated self-draining gas locker is located. The gas locker is fitted with a lock and drains to the through hull fitting portside.

A transom door is fitted which serves as a bathing platform when opened. Two latches are fitted to secure the transom door and the well drains to the through hull fitting in the transom.

The keel is made from lead with 4% antimony to provide resistance to minor impacts without cosmetic damage. Acid resistant stainless steel bolts are cast in the lead and provide the fixings.

The rudder blade is made in two halves around a 125mm aluminium stock. It is strengthened with aluminium tangs and foam filled. The stock is supported by two self-aligning bearings and the top is slotted for connection to an emergency tiller via a deck inspection hatch. The emergency tiller is located in the aft lazarette for immediate access.

Steering system is a Lewmar Mamba System with torque tubes and bevelheads transmitting helm movements to a reduction gearbox adjacent to the rudder stock. This then drives the rudder via a tiller arm. Two Mamba autopilot drives are fitted to the system. Both located to either side in the aft lazarette. Switching these units is done from the panel at the navigation desk. Twin clear-coated carbon steering wheels.

Sheet blocks and positions for guy blocks fitted to the capping rail.

The custom designed stem head fitting is from stainless steel and incorporates twin bow rollers with removable seat and carbon bowsprit. Bow sprit upgraded in 2018 to carbon with integrated tack line and stopper.

4x 40cm stainless steel mooring cleats at bow and stern

4x 30cm stainless steel mooring cleats amidships

Pulpit and pushpits in acid resistant stainless steel. Six pairs of stainless steel stanchions on stainless steel fittings bolted through the capping rail. Double guard rails in stainless steel wire with bottle screw adjustment and opening gateways to port and to starboard of the cockpit.

Integrated transom door ladder at bathing platform and removable bathing/side boarding ladder.

10 Rondal flush-mounted aluminium hatches on deck and pilothouse roof – nine with Perspex windows and one solid covered with teak planking.

Pilothouse windows in low-emission toughened glass, flush fitted without frames. Portlights in the hull and three in the cockpit coaming. One opening into the galley, one opening into the aft companionway starboard and one opening into the aft companionway aft.

Two stainless steel grabrails are fitted to the pilothouse roof. Main companionway overhead hatch is made of 12mm tinted Perspex. The main entrance is secured with a recessed custom-designed guillotine hatch with 8mm tinted Perspex. Operated electrically using the pushbuttons either at the nav desk or entry step in the cockpit.

230V 50A shore power connection at the locker behind the helm position portside. Hot/cold shower in the lazarette.

Lewmar V4/V5 Gipsy hydraulic windlass. 50kg stainless steel anchor with 80m stainless steel chain and 20m galvanised chain. Deck wash connection at the anchor windlass.

Bimini and sprayhood new in 2024 in Sunbrella grey. Old set still on board for use in winter when not on board.

The cockpit is extremely safe in bad weather with high coamings. Although it is a centre cockpit design, the cockpit does not feel cramped and has a large teak cockpit table with folding leaves and a fridge inside for drinks.

The helm position is aft of the cockpit but not raised so it does not give the feeling of being exposed like on some other similar sized yachts. Much of the operation of the vessel is push button such as for the furlers and the mainsheet. Otherwise, there are powerful hydraulic primary and secondary winches with foot controls.

Aft balcony bench with cushions for the ultimate sailing experience.

Deck saloon with large windows for giving a good view forward and to either side as well as letting in lots of natural light. A large square table is forward to starboard with L-shaped leather sofas and folding chairs. Generous forward facing navigation desk to port with navigation instruments and abundant storage. Galley is located to port and aft of the main saloon area.

In addition to light and views, the benefits of the deck saloon layout include allowing for a large machinery space under the floor of the saloon keep machinery low and central for balance and also provided excellent sound insulation. The engine is housed within this space including other systems such as both 220V and 24V water pressure pumps and the Njord fuel cleaning system. Large opening hatches in the saloon floor allow for fantastic access for maintenance. Access to hydraulic pack.

Forward of the saloon we find the spacious master accommodation. Offset double bed to starboard. A small sofa, vanity desk and generous storage space. En suite bathroom with separate shower stall, electric freshwater WC and sink.

Forward of the master cabin, there is a single bunk cabin which leads to the forepeak which is equipped as a workshop and sail locker.

In the starboard corridor leading aft from the saloon there is a single bunk cabin, the day heads which contains the washing machine and there is also access to the technical space under the cockpit housing the generator and water maker. This technical space is well insulated and does not share a bulkhead with any cabins reducing noise heard with the generator running. The shaft seal can also be easily accessed from this space.

In the aft most internal section of the yacht there are two guest cabins. One double and one twin. These share a bathroom with a separate shower, electric freshwater WC and sink.

The interior layout is well thought through, extremely ergonomic and has all the features necessary for the comfortable enjoyment of this fantastic yacht.
