1988 Westerly Falcon (Jubilee Edition) – Keira
The vessel was purchased ashore in Wiltshire and then transported to Plymouth Yachthaven where she was launched. The mast and rigging stayed with Hemisphere rigging where all standing and running rigging was renewed and the furling gear and other mast hardware serviced. When the mast was re-installed later in the year, all new lifelines were also installed. At the same time a new TV aerial was installed on the mast together with a new LED combi masthead/anchor light. A new LED steaming/deck light was also installed. A new radar bracket was fitted for the new Raymarine Quantum II radar scanner.
Following purchase the was a virtually complete re-plumb with new faucets to the galley and aft heads together with a cockpit shower. Mains electric was installed together with a 3KVA inverter that is switched via transfer switch in port cockpit locker. New batteries were purchased and the system currently comprises a 12v starter battery, 2 x 12v AGM buffer batteries and a new 480Ah Lithium house battery. The starter batter is charged by the engine or new Victron dedicated mains charger. The lithium house bank is charged by two 240Amp double sided solar panels (on stern arch), each of which has it’s own Victron controller, or via a Victron DC/DC charger from the buffer bank when the engine is running or via its own 50amp specialised lithium mains battery charger. All DC electrical information is available via Bluetooth either on a smart phone or via a Victron Cerbo GX and associated display. The lithium battery also has its own Bluetooth monitoring system down to individual cells.
