Malö 38 is a real blue-water sailboat, built to the highest standards in Kungsviken on the island of Orust. The "Orust-quality" is generally regarded as one of the very highest in the world. This Malö is från 1990 and has been used as intended, that is as a blue-water cruiser. In 2010 the rigg was replaced with a furling mast from Seldén, making her even more comfortable to handle. She also got a new fully modern engine from Yanmar in 2021. These major updates are not the only ones as the boat has been well cared for by all previous owners and updated continually throughout the years.
The Malö 38 has the by now famous Malö cockpit, deep and protected with the mainsheet traveller on a targa arch that also serves as support for the spray hood. Safe and very well protected, the cockpit is a real asset on a boat designed for all oceans. In combination with the best deck equipment, including well sized winches from Andersen, the feeling of solid safety is ever present.
Down below, the bathroom is directly to starboard besides the companionway steps. The toilet installation is as "bullet proof" as possible, with a Lavac vacuum toilet, with a manual Whale gusher as the pump, and the septic tank directly behind the toilet in the starboard cockpit storage. In addition to this, the septic tank is relatively new and all of 100 l. Again, an example of a very well thought-out yacht for the high seas.
More information about the model Malö 38 can be found in the attached original brochure from when the boat was new.
There is a windlass in the bow as well as at the stern. The bow anchor has been updated to a modern 20 kg Rocna. The list of updates goes on, more details can be found in the list of equipment/utrustningslista.
