Huge specification First 53 with carbon rig, Carbon/Kevlar sails and almost every option ticked. Costing well in excess of Euro 1 million and presented in fantastic ready-to-go condition.

FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

Presented for sale in absolutely remarkable condition, MOWGLI is a one-owner, privately used example of the new-generation Biscontini Yacht Design / Lorenzo Argento Beneteau First 53 performance cruising yacht. Configured for effortless single or twin-handed sailing under sail, MOWGLI also benefits from fitment of the performance t-keel option in addition to the taller carbon rig with carbon sail wardrobe. Despite having a full cruising inventory including luxuries such as air-conditioning, weight is kept in check with the fitment of a factory upgraded Lithium battery package saving approx. 170kgs over AGM batteries, and the carbon mast, saving over 100kgs from the aluminium mast, while also being 1m taller.

With almost every possible option and primary package ticked, MOWGLI has everything you could need for fast cruising, cub racing, comfortable long-term cruising or serious bluewater adventures.

Her specification highlights include:-

MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:

Capitalizing on 40 years of expertise, the First 53 is the latest member of the First range, launched by BENETEAU in 1977.

With sights set on high-performance cruising and more, if you are keen on regattas, this “Luxury Performance” sailing yacht was designed for expert sailors and demanding owners. With a well-balanced hull and helm for unique sensations, easy-flow deck plan, modern marine interior with a décor of white lacquered bulkheads and moulded wood, the First 53 gets the renewal of the new generation of First sailing yachts truly underway!

Exterior Design

The First 53 is a happy mix of classic and modern lines. With a straight slender bow providing plenty of forward space, and a 5-metre maximum beam further aft, she immediately stands out for her sturdy seaworthy looks. The cockpit has been studied in detail to ensure nothing can obstruct forward movement: manoeuvring close-hauled from the twin helm stations with easy access to the side decks, space given over completely to relaxation near the companionway. With a flush deck, low coachroof and a sleek modern look, she has all the virtues of a thoroughbred. The First 53 marks a new era with a top quality mast and high-end deck gear and a powerful sail plan that is easily controlled by a shorthanded crew.

Interior Design

Moulded wood has made a comeback in the interior of the First 53. This noble material with polished finishes contrasts with a modern almost minimalist décor of lacquered white bulkheads with a teak sole. There are lots of fiddles and hand rails, as well as plenty of storage indoors, where three double cabins and two heads make up the accommodation. The major innovation in the interior has been separating the lounge/relaxation area, with a sofa and coffee table, and the galley space with a dinner table. The result is bright, well-ventilated and it communicates well with the exterior by an easy and intuitive companionway.

PRESS REVIEW:

“I’d say the First 53 is the most elegant boat Beneteau has ever produced. Sleek, subtle and thoroughly modern in both style and specification, the execution of the detail is impressive, albeit with some questionable proportions forward of the helm stations. It looks like being a slippery boat too with impressive light airs performance and polars that suggest it’ll be a blast in a breeze. But what impressed me in particular is something that Beneteau is especially good at – identifying its customers and building a boat for them at the same time as pressing at the boundaries of technology and style. It doesn’t always get it right but the world’s largest boatbuilder has to be admired for having the nerve to try. In this case, with 20 already sold within the first few months it’s on course to become a potential Beneteau benchmark.”
