Our client is motivated to sell Krek Wek Wou quickly and invites the best offer of £50,000 or above for offers received this month (November 2024). The sale is on an ‘as-is, where-is’ basis!
Krek Wek Wou was built in 1928 and brought to the UK in 2015, where it has undergone extensive renovations. There is substantial outside space with the top deck and a covered back deck area, making it ideal for a liveaboard lifestyle. The exterior painting has been completed and maintained to a good standard. Some work remains to be finished by the new owner, including the kitchen and central heating, although most of the required materials are already onboard.
Internally, much of the conversion to a 2-bedroom layout has been completed, with a new solid larch floor throughout. The boat has a generous 2.5m (8.2 feet) head height throughout, except in the bathroom and wheelhouse, and a 1.2m x 1.5m (3.9 feet x 4.9 feet) skylight in the saloon.
The Wheelhouse features 360-degree surround windows, all of which can open except the windscreen. Recently installed oak flooring and storage beneath the L-shaped couch add practicality and style.
The Bathroom has a tiled floor, a fitted mirror with a tiled shelf, and the walls have been painted to a good standard. There is a roll-top bath with antique taps, ready for use. The composting toilet that was being used can be replaced with a flush toilet, making use of the 800-litre black water tank below the bathroom floor.
The Second Bedroom is finished to a high standard, featuring waxed larch flooring, a sliding door, and a single bed.
The Galley/Saloon is open plan, with larch flooring throughout. A large multi-fuel stove and flue system provide good heating. The kitchen area has floor tiles installed, but the remaining work includes installing the kitchen worktop and wall tiles.
The Main Bedroom has a walk-around bed at its centre, with four openable windows offering light and ventilation. Additionally, the boat includes a piano onboard, adding a unique feature to the space.
Krek Wek Wou also comes with several modern conveniences to enhance liveaboard living. It is equipped with Wi-Fi, a depth sounder for accurate navigation, and two radios, including a high-quality DSC unit for reliable communication. The onboard Sterling inverter and 7kW battery chargers ensure a stable power supply for all the boat’s electrical needs.
For everyday convenience, the barge has an oven, refrigerator, hob, dehumidifier, and spare electric heaters, making it fully functional. Efficient waste management is in place with a whale grey waste sump pump and the large black water tank beneath the bathroom. The boat’s clean water is supplied by a new filtered fresh drinking water system from the large onboard tank.
A crane on the stern is available for storing a dinghy, perfect for exploring the surrounding rivers and canals. Despite being fully liveable, Krek Wek Wou offers potential for further upgrades, particularly in the kitchen and central heating systems.
A marina berth in Gravesend (convenient for travel to London) is available for £500 per month, adding further practicality to the package. The barge’s spacious interior, comfortable living areas, and outdoor space make it a fantastic option for life afloat, with plenty of room for personalisation.
