The Pedro Event, the in-house boat show of the shipyard from The Netherlands, will be more extensive this year than the previous 3 editions. The shipyard is opening her doors 3 days in a row for those interested in watersport and boats. Also the program is more comprehensive, which will make the Event more informative and attractive for the visitor. The Pedro Event takes place on Friday September 30th, Saturday October 1st and Sunday October 2nd.
4 times the Pedro Event
The Pedro Event has become well-known in the circle of Pedro skippers and others interested in the shipyard. Marketing Manager Ivar van der Leij explains: “Our aim with the Pedro Event is to show our relations what we are doing at the shipyard in an informal manner. We gladly show the visitors how we build our boats here. Both our steel hulled Pedro’s, the composite Cantia and now the Pedro Liberty as well. Besides this we would like to have the visitors learn about their boat, or particular part of it and inform them about the newest trends and innovations. A number of our suppliers gladly support us with their services”.
During the Pedro Event, a number of activities will be organised, a.o.:
- Tour along the production facilities. Step by step is explained how the boats at Pedro are being built. From steelwork to spray cabin and from woodwork to installation of the engine.
- Test sailing the new Pedro’s. Try and test the sailing characteristics of a Pedro yourself.
- Workshop maintenance on your boat. What you definitely should think of when maintaning your boat and what are practical tips.
- Presentations and workshops of a.o. Kemper en van Twist (supplier of Perkins Sabre diesel engines), RayMarine Nederland, Centurion Batteries and YEC (paint system).
Besides these activities, the museum boat of the Veenkoloniaal Museum is there to be shown in the marina of the shipyard. This boat, called “Familietrouw” from 1894, served as a cargoship and transported a.o. peat, wood and potatoes throughout Holland.
For the visitors that come from far, Pedro has made a special arrangement together with farmhouse Hermans Dijkstra. Visitors can spend the night in an authentic regional farmhouse.
The catering during the Pedro Event is done by the Kleinste Soepkraam (The Smallest Soup Stall). They serve delicious and very special soups from the region.
