Van de Stadt 44 Zeelust

The Van de Stadt 44 Zeelust center cockpit is a spacious and seaworthy sailboat with a robust steel hard-chine hull. With a length of 13.50 meters, a width of 4.00 meters, and a draft of 2.15 meters, this vessel provides a solid foundation for both long sea voyages and comfortable onboard living. The air draft of 18.50 meters and the interior headroom of 2.05 meters create a spacious feel, making the boat suitable for various sailing areas, from inland waters to open sea.

The Van de Stadt 44 Zeelust is equipped with four fixed berths and five additional berths, making the vessel suitable for both family use and longer trips with crew. In 2024, a new 60-liter boiler and water pump were installed, providing hot water and a comfortable shower space in the forward bathroom. Additionally, the boat features a second bathroom in the aft cabin, equipped with an electric toilet and sink.

The galley is practically arranged and includes a sink with a kitchen faucet, a 2-burner Dickinson diesel stove, and ample storage space. The salon has a dining area, and a heating system is present for pleasant temperatures during colder periods.

The boat has an aluminum mast with four sails (mainsail and genoa) and a foresail roller system. There is also a spinnaker and storm jib available. The condition of the sails is reasonable, but the rigging needs to be checked. For anchoring, the vessel is equipped with an electric windlass and an anchor with chain attachment. The navigation equipment includes a wind meter, depth meter, speedometer, compass, autopilot, and log/speedometer. Some systems need to be checked, but the autopilot functions mostly well, with occasional malfunctions.

This Van de Stadt 44 Zeelust is equipped with a Mercedes OM352 inboard diesel engine of 120 hp, with six cylinders and 4046 running hours. The boat has a cruising speed of 13 km/h and a maximum speed of 15 km/h. The fuel tank has a capacity of 800 liters, providing a wide range for longer journeys.

The engine works, but the exhaust leaks fumes into the engine room, which requires attention. Additionally, some seacocks are not operational.

The boat is equipped with a large sprayhood, a high guardrail, and a self-draining cockpit, providing extra protection in rougher waters. There is a liferaft available, although it is not certified. Furthermore, the vessel features pulpit and pushpit seats, fenders, lines, davits, a cockpit table, and a swim ladder.

The boat was taken out of the water in 2024 and received a new antifouling treatment. The hull needs to be repainted, and there are some maintenance points such as the rigging and seacocks. The aft port bollard is present but not yet installed.

The current owner purchased the boat in December 2023 for living aboard and refurbishment. The boat has mainly been used on inland waters, lakes, and seas. The owner is now looking for a smaller vessel.
