Construction

Built to MCA Category 2 requirements.

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean”

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:
  • Hull moulded in GRP from female moulds and built by Oyster in their own facility under the designer’s supervision, ensuring a smooth accurate finish. Hull and deck structures moulded to the designer’s specification under controlled conditions and all laminating carried out by hand to high standard. GRP lay-up specification calculated to meet and exceed Lloyd’s Register of Shipping Rules for Yacht and Small Craft with bulkheads made of marine Ply.
  • Hull uses a high-performance gelcoat laminated using vinylester resin for all outer skins. The hull is of single skin construction, reinforced with a matrix of stringers and floors, above and below the waterline, to ensure a robust structure with good strength to weight qualities and proven longevity. Limber holes and/or tubes are installed at appropriate points. Stringers, bulkhead landings and floors incorporate non-structural, inert, polyurethane foam.
  • Hull Finish - Awlgrip ‘Stark White’ hull with cove line and double boot top lines in Awlgrip ‘Medium Grey.’
  • Deck moulded in GRP with a balsa core for strength and insulation. In load-bearing areas the core is replaced with plywood for additional strength, and all load-bearing fittings have aluminium backing plates.
  • Teak laid decks, with additional thin teak deck on coach roof forward of sprayhood.
  • The deck edge incorporates a bulwark, which enhances the yacht’s visual appearance with a graceful sheer line. This bulwark facilitates relatively flat side decks whilst providing a good foothold when working the yacht in a seaway. The top of this bulwark is capped with a substantial teak capping in varnished wood finish. Internal scupper drains are installed along the deck edge.
  • Deck saloon styling incorporates an eyebrow effect and modern angular windows. Top painted with non-skid deck paint. Louvre inlets at end of eyebrow and window mullions in ‘white.’
