Construction

RCD Status: Our understanding is that the yacht is exempt from the essential safety requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive as she was built and placed into use within the EU prior to 1998.

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • The hull is of single skin construction using glass/aramid hybrid fibre reinforced polyester laminate.
  • Structural bulkheads are of marine grade waterproof plywood laminated to hull and deck with foam strips between. Stiffeners are unidirectional lay-ups over foam cores. Engine beds are of GRP. Special care is taken to assure rigid foundation and proper adhesion to hull. Two crash bulkheads forward.
  • Deck is of sandwich construction using glass/aramid fibre reinforced polyester laminate with foam core and glued to the hull.
  • Original Teak deck replaced with Burmese teak by Berthon/Moody Decking UK - 2020.

 

Keel & Rudder:

  • Regatta keel, draft 2.9m.
  • The keel is an accurately finished lead casting with antimony.
  • Cast-in keel bolts are of high-tensile stainless steel.
  • Foam filled GRP with tubular tapered stock of E-glass composite, supported by two self-aligning JP3 type4 roller bearings.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • Volvo Penta MD22L (based on Perkins M50) rated 41.9 kW (55 HP) at 3600 rpm marine diesel on flexible mountings with MS2A reduction gearbox 3.0:1.
  • Access for service via three removable panels - companionway, galley, and aft heads.
  • Engine box internally sound insulated, fire resistance meeting SOLAS B-15 requirements.
  • The engine and gearbox were removed, stripped, and rebuilt with short new block (Perkins Prima M50) and refurbished cylinder head plus ancillary Volvo marine components in December 2021.
  • 2 x Compressors mounted to engine PTO - Watermaker and Fridge/Freezer.

 

Propulsion & Steering:

  • Cable steering with chain drive, sheaves provided with guards to prevent jamming.
  • Steering quadrant bolted to rudder stock. 60 (1.52 m) stainless destroyer type wheel with cow hide cover, 1.6 turns hard over to hard over. Composite pedestal with roller bearings, friction brake and crash bar with bracket for chart plotter over wheel.
  • Emergency tiller stowed aft in lazarette.
  • Propeller shaft made of corrosion resistant high-strength steel with flexible shaft coupling, outboard end supported by strut with rubber bearing - cutlass alignment and new bearing 2020.
  • PSS flexibly supported by hose connection to stern tube - new shaft seal Aug 2017.
  • Zinc anode on shaft Mar 2023.
  • Max Prop 2 blade folding propellor - inspection window under owners bunk.

Electrical Systems

Voltage Systems:

  • Main switch and circuit breaker/s located in the base of the saloon table.
  • 12 V @ 5Amp outlets at main switchboard plus 1 x cockpit and 1 x fore deck.

 

Battery Banks:

  • One domestic battery set 24 V, 320 Ah 5-hour rating (385 Ah 20 h rating) comprising 12 x 2V traction type in glass fibre box under saloon settee - batteries replaced with AGM 2021.
  • 12 V DC 90Ah sealed lead acid battery for engine starting located under saloon settee - 2015.

 

Battery Chargers:

  • Battery charger, Mastervolt 24/50A via 230V shore power.

 

Alternators:

  • 1 x 24 V 80 A engine driven alternator for the service batteries – new 2020.
  • 1 x 12 V 60 A engine driven alternator for the starting battery – new 2020.

 

Shore Power:

  • Shore power 230V 25A including connection cable, main switch, and EU outlets.

 

Other Electrical:

  • For lightning protection, headstay, backstay, fuel tank, fuel fill, and main chain plates are grounded to ballast keel bolts with heavy cable.
  • Mastervolt 24/1500W Inverter including panel transfer switch - 2 pin EU 240v outlets in all cabins.

Plumbing Systems

  • Sea water piping of reinforced PVC tubing, freshwater piping of nylon tubing.
  • Inlet sea cocks for galley, engine cooling and toilet flushing.

 

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

  • Hot and cold pressure water for galley and heads.
  • The consumable water can be heated via a calorifier under the Owners bunk, either via engine cooling water or with an immersion heating element working on AC when the boat is connected to shore power.
  • Hot water tank capacity 22 litres (5.8 USg).
  • Tank vent pipes drain into galley sink.
  • Salt and Fresh water Foot pump/s for galley sink.

 

Watermaker:

  • Seafresh SH206 rated at 100 litres per hour - completely overhauled 2019.

Tankage

  • Fuel and water tanks of welded stainless-steel pressure tested to 35 kPa, and provided with baffles, inspection covers, sounding plug, and vent pipes.
  • Refrigerator drained with back-up sump tank pump.

 

Fuel:

  • Fuel capacity 300 litres (79 USg), in two tanks with dual shut-off valve.
  • 2 x Level gauge on engine control panel (tank 1 and tank 2).
  • Water separator on fuel feed line, return line provided.
  • Tank/s vented to outside. Fill on deck starboard side with internal shut off valves.

 

Fresh Water:

  • Fresh water capacity 430 litres (113.6 USg), in two tanks.
  • Level gauge (tank 1 and 2) on galley control panel.
  • One filler line from deck, terminating at valve chest.

 

Grey/Blackwater Holding Tanks:

  • Holding tank for aft head.
  • Galley sinks drained through sea cock.
  • Shower trays and aft wash basins drain to sump tank, capacity 40 litres each.
  • Forward wash basin drains through sea cock.
  • Sump tanks are emptied by electric pump to outlet above waterline.

Navigation Equipment

  • Compass -135 mm SUUNTO steering compass, mounted in binnacle on steering pedestal.
  • B&G Zeus 12 chart plotter above compass crash bar - 2018.
  • B&G Primary plus Performance processor system with speed, temperature and depth transducers, masthead wind transducer on vertical carbon wand, multi-function display on compass crash bar, and digital boat speed repeater forward in cockpit and on 3 x B&G 20:20 mast display.
  • 2 x B&G Hercules 2000 display at steering and above aft companionway.
  • B&G Wind and Depth analogue displays above aft companionway.
  • B&G Z8 plotter at chart table - plotters connected by NMEA2000 and Ethernet.
  • B&G Hercules2000 pilot - electrically driven hydraulic piston to steering quadrant.
  • B&G V60 VHF at chart table with remote handset in cockpit - new 2021.
  • Metz Masthead antenna and mast cable – new 2021
  • Fusion AV755 Marine Entertainment system - new 2021.

Domestic Equipment

Galley:

  • Rebuilt 2021 - stainless steel three-burner Alpes Inox gas stove with oven and electric grill, gimballed and provided with fiddles, Flame failure protection on all burners.
  • Stainless steel double sink with mixing tap and saltwater tap driven by foot pump.
  • Front-loaded 110 litre (3.9 cu.ft.) refrigerator and top-loaded 70 litre (2.5 cu.ft.) freezer. Iceberg hold-over system for refrigerator and freezer with Bock compressor. driven from main engine - electric compressor option not fitted - rebuilt 2020.
  • Drip-dry rack for plates in cupboard above sinks.
  • Microwave oven - 2021.

 

Heads/Showers:

  • To forward heads:
    1. Basin and top of Corian.
    2. Manual Jabsco heads discharges through sea cock.
    3. Telephone type shower, towel, soap and paper holder, mirrors, and waste container.
  • To aft heads:
    1. Moulded basin and top.
    2. Manual Jabsco heads (2020) discharges either to stainless 45 litres (11.9 USg) holding tank, or through sea cock. Manual discharge pump for holding tank (aft head).
    3. Ceramic tiling on floor with incorporated electrical shower drain.
    4. Lockers with shelves outboard.
    5. Shower sump tanks of GRP, integral with the moulded floor liner.

 

Heating & Ventilation:

  • Engine space air inlet in forward cockpit, outlet with temperature-controlled extractor fan.
  • Battery boxes ventilated to outside through mast.
  • Dorade ventilators forward of mast.
  • Exhaust ventilators in heads and galley.

 

Entertainment:
