Description
The Moody 31 MkII is a popular family cruiser with accommodation for six and good sailing performance. 'Cicero' is the wheel steering version and benefits from many upgrades and improvements over recent years. Some of the work carried out in a 2021/22 refit included new keel bolts, new headlinings, new hull stripes, all old antifouling removed and repainted and new Raymarine electronics. More recently she has had a new propeller as well as cutless bearing and stern gland, chainplates re-bedded, new diesel heater, new TV and solar panel. 'Cicero' has been very well maintained throughout her life and is presented in very good condition for her age.

Accommodation
The layout offers up to six berths with two double sleeping cabins separate from the saloon. In forecabin, V-berth with infill and stowage under. Opening hatch to foredeck. Hanging locker. In saloon, two settee berths with lockers behind. Fixed saloon table with drop leaves. Avtex 12/240v TV/DVD player (new March 2024). Chart table to port with dedicated seat. Galley opposite with Plastimo Neptune 2000 two burner gimballed gas cooker with grill and oven. Stainless steel sink with manually pumped cold water supply. 135 litre freshwater capacity. Refrigerator. Separate heads compartment with marine toilet (fresh water flush) and washbasin. New toilet pump 2023. Wet hanging locker. In aft cabin, double berth with hanging locker. Diesel fired hot air central heating (new 2023). LED interior lighting and interior re-varnished in 2021. Blue draylon upholstery.
Mechanical Systems
Located behind the companionway steps, 1988 Volvo MD2003, three cylinder, 28hp diesel engine. Electric start. Sea watercooled. Shaft drive to two blade propeller. New propeller, cutless bearing and PSS dripless seal fitted in 2024. Single lever control. 90 litre fuel capacity giving approximately 250 mile range at 6 knot cruising speed. Maximum speed under power 7 knots. The engine has been owner serviced for the last three years including oil and fuel filters and belt change in April 2025. New impellor March 2024.
Electrical Systems
2 x 12 volt 100Ah batteries both new 2022. Alternator charging. 240 volt shore power with Sterling Power Pro battery charger and ring main. 130 watt flexible solar panel (new 2024).
Sails and Spars
Masthead rigged sloop. Kemp Spars silver anodised aluminium mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging, age unknown. Chainplates lifted and resealed August 2023. Terylene running rigging. Slab reefing mainsail with lazyjacks/stackpack. Furlex headsail furling system. Some lines led aft to cockpit. Two Lewmar 40 self-tailing sheet winches. Two Lewmar 8 halyard winches on coachroof. Lewmar 6 reefing winch on mast.

Construction
Moody 31 MkII built in 1988 by Marine Projects to a design by Bill Dixon. White GRP hull with style stripes. White GRP superstructure with moulded non-slip to deck. Cast iron fin keel. Wheel steering to skeg hung rudder. Aft self-draining cockpit. Sugar scoop transom. Midship spring cleats. Hull stripped back and re-antifouled, 2021/2. Keel bolts re-bedded in 2022. Underwater hull antifouled and hull polished in December 2024 and new anodes fitted.
