Construction

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • The hull was molded in FRP from male molds with ¾” Airex foam core for added strength and sound/thermal insulation, then Vinylester resin is used on the exterior skins for the highest possible resistance to water osmosis.
  • The internal water and holding tanks were made from sanitary resin and all four of the fuel takes were built with flame retardant resin.
  • The Deck was made with a Q&B mold, constructed from the outside in, using FRP and 5/8” Airex core with special attention given to not piecing the exterior skin and reinforcing specific load hard points for rigging and such.
  • In 2022, the hull was awlgripped white with a double navy boot top striping and medium blue antifouling bottom coat.
  • Fresh bottom paint and topsides buffed 2024.

 

Keel & Rudder:

  • The winged lead-cast keel provides a minimum draft of 6’-6”.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • 1 x Perkins 6.354, Range 4 m135 135hp diesel engine.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

  • Engine Hours: c. 1,580.
  • 1000 engine hour service completed 2024.
  • Cruising Speed: 8 knots.

Propulsion & Steering:

  • 3-blade – MaxProp, feathering prop with spur line-cutters.

  • The DC electrical system is 24 volts provided by (4) AGL 12V 8D batteries (2023) with a total capacity of 800 amp hours.

Accommodation

Summary of Accommodation:

  • This striking yacht accommodates 10 in two staterooms, 4 berths amidships plus a double berth in a utility space that can be either used as a children’s play area, a separate cabin, or sail locker.
  • The boat’s interior is primarily varnished Honduras mahogany (all book matched from single panels) finished with contrasting ash siding that complements the teak and holly cabin sole.
  • Louvered doors were used throughout to improve ventilation in the lockers.
  • The portlights, fittings and hardware are of unlacquered bronze, burnished to a soft luster. The hardware was specially chosen to hide the latches.
  • The overhead under the foredeck is mahogany strips over a lightweight foam core to insulate and preserve weight.
  • The interior fabrics consist of a navy ultra-suede for seat cushions complimented by timeless traditional Williamsburg all cotton print for berths and pillows.
  • Hidden Gun locker.
  • Liquor and forward cabin keyed lock lockers.

 

Description of layout from fwd:

 

Fwd Locker:

  • A large anchor/sail locker at the bow is well suited for storing gear such as sails, fenders, dock lines and anchors.
  • The locker is divided into three sections: two anchor cubies for road and chain and one large locker for sails and dock equipment.
  • A built-in ladder is provided for access.
  • Although a hatch through the watertight bulkhead from the forward cabin is provided, the locker has its own anchor chain pipe that functions as a dorade and is completely isolated from the living quarters so that no odor or dampness can work its way aft.

 

Master Stateroom:

  • A master stateroom just aft of the fwd locker is furnished with a large double berth, removable “V” insert for a wider birth, an overhead opening hatch, three spacious bureaus, bookshelves, cushioned seat, and large cedar-lined hanging locker.
  • The forward cabin features a double berth to starboard, while to port is a built-in bench, bookcase, and multiple cabinets and a large cedar-lined hanging locker.
  • There are also multiple drawers under the berth and storage for 8 type IV Life Jackets.
  • A large deck hatch able to be climbed through via a folding bronze step plus a dorade vent provide great light and ventilation.
  • Aft of the forward stateroom, adjacent to the bureau, there is a large cedar-lined hanging locker to service main cabin (below this locker there is also a sealed anchor chain storage locker with midship windless above) opposite is a spacious head and separate shower stall featuring wood accented sink, Moen faucets, Vacuflush toilet and numerous lockers.
  • Head has a dedicated small hatch, dorade, and exhaust fan provide ventilation.
  • The area is finished in Herreshoff style, with white bulkheads and high-gloss mahogany trim with teak & holy cabin grates.
  • Port and Starboard heads are easily accessed from the saloon for use as a day head.

 

Saloon:

  • The main saloon is spacious and bright.
  • It is furnished with a large removable bookcase which can be converted to a pilot berth to port with two settee berths and a pilot berth to starboard surrounding a beautifully varnished tiger maple table that can seat eight (there is also a custom cover to protect the table while underway).
  • Natural light and air are supplied by eight opening ports, dorade vents and five overhead hatches including one large deck mounted hatch.
  • Custom hand carved mahogany continuous grabrail moulding at cabin top and other rails.
  • Berths are equipped with Lee cloths.
  • Custom white vinyl mast cover.

 

Galley:

  • Aft to starboard of the main saloon is the U-shaped galley with a layout that is both functional and attractive.
  • The galley is large by any standard with generous fiddle-board rimmed countertop area over engine (removable insulated panels provide total engine access on all sides) are below the custom heated dish drawer, other storage cubbies, and the handy galley propane breaker switch for stove.
  • Outboard, there is a gimbaled, polished stainless 4-burner stove & broiler surrounded with a stainless-steel lined stove and refrigerator bays, flanked by top-loaded freezer and two separate refrigerator boxes.
  • In addition, a large, concealed rubbish bin with outboard storage for recycling.
  • Custom mahogany cup rack, binocular holder, and paper towel bracket with a custom cubby for storage of six 2.5-gallon plastic water jugs below.
  • These countertops are surrounded by special contoured moldings that are easy on the eye and hands and designed to allow a cook the perfect perch in a seaway.

 

Aft of Galley:

  • Starboard, aft of the galley and outboard of companionway, is a large wet locker, insulated diesel generator enclosure, and cockpit accessed life raft holder, and passageway to the starboard cabin/sail locker.
  • This area is fitted with a removable cushion for use as berth and a stowaway hatch to separate it from the cabin if used as a sail locker offshore. Cushion extends under cockpit sole for a doublewide birth or can be used for storage of inflatable tender, life jackets, deck cushions, and sails.
  • A lockable cockpit bench hatch above opens for total access with a portlight and deck prism for additional ventilation and light.
  • A window below the portlight allows visual inspection of the steering system.
  • Wood trimmed storage cabinets are outboard with a shelf above provide for emergency aluminium tiller, oars, awning pole, and fishing rod storage.

 

Aft Quarter Cabin:

  • Further aft to port is the quarter cabin with a doublewide berth, cushioned bench, bureau, cedar lined hanging locker, and a large storage locker below the berth for auxiliary lines, and sail storage.
  • All mahogany details including bulkheads, framed mirror, fiddle-boards, and handrails are accented by varnished Ash battened trim pieces outboard.
  • There are two ventilation fans and reading lights plus two opening portlights and a small overhead hatch.
  • A deck prism placed in the cockpit well provides ample natural light. (These same ventilation and natural lighting design amenities exist in the Starboard aft cabin utility area).

 

Cockpit:

  • The T shaped cockpit aft of the Hinckley style table and Edson binnacle and behind the fold down helmsmen’s step is a bench hatched accessed large locker with outdoor showerhead controls and hose, plus ample gear storage for freshwater hose, shore power cable, dock lines, engine oil containers, holding tank controls, etc.
  • Further aft and completely separate from this locker are deck accessed lazarettes for (2) 20 lb. propane bottles to port and an outboard engine and auxiliary fuel storage to starboard.
  • These lockers are molded separately from the rest of the boat and are distinctly vented and drain directly overboard for safety.
