Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean”.

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Composite construction with high density foam core providing exceptional stiffness and insulation. Laid up with vacuum technology for complete structural integrity.
  • Vinylester resins are used throughout the hull for added strength and osmosis prevention.
  • 2 x Layers of epoxy applied to hull as a barrier against moisture ingress.
  • A layer of Kevlar for added impact resistance in the forward area of the hull.
  • Carbon fibre used in high load areas of the hull structure for added strength.
  • Watertight bulkheads forward and aft providing sealed buoyancy and safety.
  • Discovery Blue gelcoat topsides with two white boot-top lines – the top line is presently covered with red vinyl which is easily removed.
  • Composite construction deck with sandwich core providing strength and stiffness with thermal and acoustic insulation resulting in a strong but light deck.
  • All load-bearing areas have marine-ply core and stainless steel or aluminium backing plates for added strength.
  • Teak on all flat deck surfaces and teak capping rail.
  • Hull to deck is joined with an overlapping flange, using urethane acrylate paste and stainless bolts for strength.
  • All bulkheads are over-bonded to the deck for strength and stiffness.

 

Keel & Rudder:

  • External lead keel - 10,000kg (22,000lb).
  • Ron Holland designed a high-performance keel, specifically shaped to provide maximum performance, stability, and comfort.
  • Semi balanced large Kevlar reinforced rudder with half skeg.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • 1 x Yanmar 160hp diesel engine.
  • Walk in Engine room with excellent sound insulation.
  • Twin Separ fuel filter with alarm.
  • Up-graded engine room fans.
  • Engine controls at both pedestals (2021).
  • Aquadrive for a smooth-running engine – replaced in (2021).

 

Maintenance & Performance:

  • Engine hours – approximately 3,480 as of October 2024.
  • Engine last serviced: October 2024.
  • Cruising speed – approx. 7.5 - 8.0 knots @ 1780 rpm.
  • Maximum speed – approx. 9+ knots @ 2200 rpm.
  • Fuel consumption at cruising speed – approx. 8-9 litres per hour.
  • Range @ cruising speed – approx. 1,100 Nm with +/- 200 lts. in reserve.
  • Major engine service in 2021 at approx. 2,050 hours. Heat exchanger, turbo, and exhaust elbow all replaced. Replaced by diligent owner not due to any failure.
  • Tides Marine shaft seal with 2 x spare seals on shaft (2021).
  • Engine oil is changed every +/- 175 hours under the 250-hour requirement.

 

Propulsion & Steering:

  • Twin Carbonautica wheels (2019).
  • Jeffa rod steering providing direct and positive steering and great reliability.
  • 3-bladed Gori folding prop with overdrive facility for efficiency under power or sail.
  • Shaft-mounted rope cutter.
  • Sleipner bowthruster with 230lb/foot of thrust – Side-Power SE150-215T 24V with separate battery bank.
  • 2 x Bowthruster controls units at each pedestal - replaced for progressive units (2021).

Electrical Systems

Voltage Systems:

  • 12v, 24v and 230v systems with battery charger support.
  • 230v power sockets are a mixture of Swiss and English styles; where there are two together, the yacht has one socket of each style. These are waterproof when sited in exposed areas.
  • Marine-grade tinned cabling is used throughout. This reduces corrosion and provides longevity of all electrical systems.
  • Full electrical control/monitoring panels, which are readily to hand and clearly presented.
  • Victron Energy Remote Monitoring – GX Touch 70 with smart shunt.
  • 12v socket fitted to navigation desk, pedestal, and mast.

 

Battery Banks:

  • 24V (12 x 2v) Sonnenschein sealed gel, deep-cycle service batteries - 24V (480 Amp).
  • 1 x 12v Rolls AGM engine start battery – new 2020.
  • 1 x 12v Rolls AGM generator start battery – new 2020.
  • 2 x 12v Rolls AGM bow thruster batteries – new 2020. Linked in series to supply 24v to the bowthruster.

 

Battery Chargers:

  • Domestic battery charging via shore power, main engine alternator or on-board generator and inverter/charger.
  • Invertor/charger combination.
  • 2 x 104W solar panels on fixed bimini with smart controller (2021).

 

Alternators:

  • 60 Amp (12v) alternator for charging the start-battery.
  • 110 Amp (24v) alternator with intelligent regulators for charging house batteries.

 

Generator:

  • Onan 7kVa generator (2017)
  • Generator hours – approximately 701 October 2024.
  • Generator last serviced: October 2024.
  • Onan digital readout at electric panel (2021).

 

Shore Power:

  • 230v/50Hz shore power.
  • 32 Amp 15m (16 yard) shore power cable with female socket and LED ‘power on’ light.

 

Other Electrical:

  • Isolation transformer to provide highest level electrical safety on board and galvanic protection, irrespective of incoming voltage.

Plumbing Systems

  • Seacocks made of Marelon (nylon) which resists corrosion.

 

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

  • Pressurised hot and cold water. Pump replaced with Marco UP12/E pump (2023).
  • Saltwater pressurised deck & anchor hose located in chain locker.
  • Deck freshwater tap under grate in cockpit.
  • Hot and cold freshwater shower at transom. Alternative turn on-off at handle for ease-of-use water savings.
  • Twin-coil 75 litre insulated calorifier with immersion heater allows heating via engine or heating system (230v or 110v).

 

Watermaker:

  • Dessolator 24v DC watermaker – making 102 litres per hour.
  • Membranes replaced (2023).
  • Watermaker hours 757 as at September 2024.

 

Bilge Pumps:

  • 4 x Electric automatic bilge pumps with 3-way control - auto/on/off with high level alarm.
  • Manual bilge pump operated from cockpit.

Tankage

  • Analogue fuel and water tank gauge for quick and easy reference.

 

Fuel:

  • Total capacity of 1,320 litres.
  • 2 x Polyethylene fuel tanks, which are corrosion resistant, strong, and light weight.

 

Fresh Water:

  • Total capacity of 930 litres.
  • All tanks made from polyethylene for reliability.

 

Grey/Blackwater Holding Tanks:

  • Total capacity of 80 litres in 2 x WC blackwater tanks.
  • Grey tank installation with level sensor, pump out to sea and deck suction port.

 

Gas:

  • Permanent gas supply and bayonet fitting for pushpit-mounted BBQ.
  • Gas locker to house 2 x 6kg propane bottles.
  • Gas adapter kit to fit various bottle types.

Navigation Equipment

  • 1 x Raymarine Axiom XL 16 at chart table (2019).
  • 1 x Raymarine Axiom 9 in master cabin (2021).
  • 2 x Raymarine Axiom Pro 12 RVX, one at each pedestal (2019).
  • 3 x Raymarine i70s above companionway (2020).
  • Raymarine Quantum doppler radar Q24D (2020).
  • 3 x Raymarine autopilot i70s controllers (2021).
  • Direct drive autopilot coupled to Raymarine plotter and i70s control unit; 2nd backup Raymarine autopilot, incl. separate head, course computer and drive.

  • FLIR M364C camera with night vision (2021).

Communications & Weather:

  • Icom M423 VHF with DSC, dual station, and masthead antenna with loudhailer & horn.
  • Icom IC-M93D Floating Portable Handheld with DSC & GPS.
  • KVH Sailor FB 250 Fleet Track, fax, phone and broadband – removed dome (cabling remains) but on board and now using Starlink.
  • Wi-Fi long distance antenna to transom, including wireless router.

Domestic Equipment

Galley:

  • GN Espace Ocean Chef XL hob gimbaled, stainless steel gas cooker with 5 burners, grill, oven, harbour lock.
  • Cooker hood extractor fan.
  • Panasonic 230v microwave oven/multi-cooker.
  • Electric solenoid gas safety shut-off valve.
  • 300L fridge and 170L freezer, both 24V.
  • Pre-filter on cold tap.
  • Additional foot-operated freshwater pump.

 

Heads/Showers:

  • Bosch washer/dryer fitted in utility area aft of navigation station.
  • 24v Tecma electric flush toilets using either fresh or saltwater, with macerator and blackwater tanks (2 x 80 litres).

 

Heating & Ventilation:

  • Climma tropical air-conditioning in master cabin, forward cabin (also supplies bunk cabin), and 2 x in raised saloon.
  • Eberspacher (Espar) Hydonic M10 central heating throughout.
  • 2 x Fans fitted in each cabin and 1 x in galley.
  • 3 x Low profile dorades in fwd cabins and two under pedestal seat for master cabin - providing excellent ventilation.

 

Entertainment:

  • 2 x Fusion stereo head unit (2021).
  • High fidelity Focal speakers in saloon and master cabin (2020).
