On Thursday 25th September Poole's vibrant tourism industry came together to celebrate their achievements at the Sibbett Gregory Poole Tourism Awards hosted at the Harbour Heights hotel with over eighty key tourism businesses in attendance.
From the 5 main categories, the Sandbanks Boat Show was awarded Highly Commended in the Tourism Promotion of the Year category for their originality, excellence and commitment in helping to grow the town's thriving tourism economy and reputation for excellence.
Receiving the certificate Jane Haas, Marketing Co-ordinator for Salterns Marina Ltd and promoter of the event said "we are thrilled to have been recognised by the Tourism community. Salterns Marina and Brokerage have worked hard over the last 4 years establishing a unique and outstanding boutique boat show, the format (and phrase) other marinas are now following. By offering a two day event which is free admission, works well for both exhibitors and visitors alike, helping to raise the profile of Poole and the marine industry. It's amazing to hear how far some visitors have travelled, including people from Russia, Malta and France. Salterns Marina is the ideal venue for such a show and we look to continue with its success, which is without doubt one of the best boating locations on the South Coast."
The Sandbanks Boat Show
Now in its fourth year, Dorset's largest boat show is firmly an established event on the boating calendar bringing an extensive and unprecedented mix of leading boating brands and businesses including sports cruisers, high performance craft, fishing boats, ribs and jet skis. The event is held on the second weekend in May at the prestigious Salterns Marina, awarded 5 Gold Anchor status, making it the perfect way to integrate into the local boating community.
