Introduction

“Giriz II” is a rare and unique Dutch Classic long range motor sailing yacht. Designed by the renowned Rudi van den Akker and built for Dr. M. Muhlebach – von Felbert. She was a favorite amongst famous entrepreneurs and Hall of Fame artists, including Fritz Loewe (composer of My Fair Lady), Frank Sinatra, Amsterdam-born Kirk Douglas, and author Harold Robbins. In the summertime, her famous guests enjoyed her in Cannes, in the Palais des Festivals area, and in wintertime in the Caribbean. Captain Heijkoop and his wife Annie crewed “Giriz II” for over 26 years since she was launched.

All Atlantic crossings were undertaken at her own keel. Her present owner respectfully restored her to her current condition. A unique and contemporary “little ship” combining timeless beauty and seaworthiness within a brilliant concept of comfort both in the accommodation and on deck that is seldom seen amongst today's designs.

Construction

Heavy displacement round bilged, canoe stern construction, with flared bow and long keel. Originally probably built in SM grade 6 - 10 mm steel with framing each 50 cm and steel bulwarks. 2013 Ultrasonic available. 6 watertight compartments by 5 bulkheads. Fwd. watertight door. One 8 mm steel rudder fitted to keel. Steel docking bumper strips. Stainless steel fairlead holes, anchor bow protection plates, and other parts like around hatches.

Lower part built in 5 mm steel. Wheelhouse top in teak. Decks with ± 20 mm teak in a bedding compound (NEW 1996).

Superstructure last painted in 2011. Colour snow white. System two component by Alexseal.

Hull last painted in 2000. Colour snow white. System two component by Alexseal.

Decks and Cockpit

Spacious and flush deck. Offering king size aft deck and further sunbathing areas on salon- and fly-bridge decks. Separate crew entrance fwd. Large on (fwd) deck storage box for diving gear and tender. Efficient and logic deck gear set-up requires a minimum of crew (following minimum safe manning minimum crew 1 x captain/engineer + 1 x mate) for sail/handling. Sea railing of 100 cm high in stainless steel and teak caprail to ensure maximum safety. Accommodation/bathing ladder facility on both Port and SB.

Interior

The interior is excellently built in the renowned Dutch classic style in fine teak. The woodwork is finished in satin paint and varnish. Teak floors in wheelhouse. Wooden floors throughout. Carpets in salon and dining. Brass and stainless steel fittings and hardware. Stainless steel worktops and sinks. Chromium plated finished taps. Curtains of standard fabrics in salon, wheelhouse, dining, and cabins. Sleeping accommodation for owner and a total of 4 guests in 3 cabins.
