Uniflite, initially founded in Bellingham, Washington, in 1957, by Art Nordtvedt, began as a modest boat-building company. The name Uniflite stands for "United Boat Builders," reflecting the founders' vision of producing reliable and quality vessels. The company gained a strong reputation for manufacturing robust fibreglass boats, and they primarily focused on creating pleasure cruisers such as the Sea Scout and Combat vessels for the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.In the 1960s and 70s, Uniflite experienced significant growth due to their innovative designs and durable construction techniques. They became especially well-known for their line of 'Convertible' boats, which combined the features of both sport fishing and luxury cruising. However, in the early 1980s, Uniflite faced challenges due to economic downturns and issues with hull blisters caused by a defective fibreglass resin, leading to a decline in their reputation. In 1984, Uniflite was purchased by Chris-Craft Industries, which aimed to continue the brand's legacy but eventually focused on their own product lines. The Uniflite brand ceased operations not long after the acquisition. Today, the legacy of Uniflite lives on through enthusiasts and vintage boat collectors, with many considering the well-preserved Uniflite boats as classic examples of mid-20th century American marine craftsmanship.
Uniflite produce a range of boats including the Uniflite 36. For the full list of Uniflite models currently listed on TheYachtMarket.com, see the model list in the search options on this page.
