This 1970 Swan 40 offers comfortable accommodation with eight berths across four cabins. Renowned as a timeless classic, it showcases outstanding balance and exceptional handling, delivering impressive upwind performance and a smooth, graceful motion at sea. The yacht has some basic navigation and safety equipment that could benefit from some upgrades. The owner is reluctantly selling the vessel due to a lack of time to fully enjoy her. Accommodation :
The Swan 40 offers comfortable accommodation with eight berths across four cabins. The forepeak features a V- berth with convenient under-berth storage effortlessly converting into a double berth with an infill. Flooded with natural light from an overhead deck hatch, the forepeak strikes a balance between spaciousness and coziness.
Moving aft to the port side behind the forepeak are the heads compartment complete with a white sink set in a vanity unit, offering pressurized cold water with a shower attachment, marine toilet, large mirror. The space also includes a built-in shower tray and storage cupboard behind the toilet. Opposite the heads compartment are two storage lockers.
The saloon presents an inviting atmosphere with abundant natural light through four rectangular port holes and an overhead opening deck hatch. The saloon benefits from an off-centre table to port with a folding leaf’s, settees on both port and starboard sides with significant storage available underneath. These settees easily transform into single berths with two additional berths located the settees above. The Saloon also offers a wall mounted Taylor 079D diesel heater with a separate fuel tank located in the heads compartment.
Moving aft through a companion way this boat boasts a spacious forward-facing chart table on the port side, that is large enough to accommodate full-size charts with storage underneath, the electrical distribution panel is also conveniently located in this area.
Opposite to the chart table is the galley of this vessel comprising a gimbled 2-burner gas hob with an oven and grill, a single stainless-steel sink supplied with pressurised cold water, cool box and ample storage and workspace further enhance the functionality of the galley area.
This area also leads to the two rear cabins located under the cockpit to both port and starboard sides. These cabins included two single berths with under-berth storage and shelving along the starboard side.
Ascending the companionway leads to the expansive aft cockpit, featuring bench seating comfortably accommodating eight individuals. Instrumentation includes a depth gauge, wind direction indicator, and speed log are housed above the companion way, with engine controls and compass conveniently positioned at the rear of the cockpit.

History & Construction
Constructed in 1970 by Sparkman and Stevens Inc in Finland, this vessel features a blue painted GRP hull and a white superstructure, with non-slip decks and self-draining cockpit. Equipped with a fin keel with skeg hung rudder ensuring great handling and manoeuvrability. The boat was last out of the water in June 2024, when the anodes were changed, hull polished and antifouled. The owner has enjoyed the vessel for the last 24 year and is now selling due to a lack of time to fully enjoy her.

This Swan 40 features a masthead sloop rig, with a keel-stepped aluminium mast and boom. The mast has stainless steel standing rigging that was replaced in 1997. This Swan 40 is equipped with a convenient Profurl, furling headsail and a slab reef mainsail with lazy Jacks and stackpack. Also included with this sale are 2 x aluminium spinnaker poles. This vessel allows for efficient sailing in various conditions. The age of the running rigging is unknown.

Positioned amidships this Swan 40 is equipped with a 29HP Yanmar 3GM30F diesel engine, installed in 1997 this engine is propelling a shaft driven a three-bladed folding propeller. Last serviced in February 2024, this engine is supplied by an 150L steel fuel tank. This Swan 40 can achieve a cruising speed of approximately 6 knots.
Electrical Systems:
The Swan 40 is equipped with three 12-volt batteries 1 x for engine starting and 2 x for domestic. These batteries are charged via the engine alternator.
