Pegasus Yachts, established in 1968, originally made waves in the boating world from their base in Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, England. The company was founded by Maurice Hottinger, a prominent yacht designer, with the core vision to develop high-quality and affordably priced cruising and sailing vessels for the international market. Pegasus built a solid reputation for durability and design, creating some of the most recognisable and admired boats in the United Kingdom. The firm notably laid its foundation with Pegasus 700, a popular small cruising yacht.
Through the course of its history, Pegasus has experienced several changes in ownership and production locations. After the departure of Maurice Hottinger in 1982, entrepreneur Mike Patten took over, steering Pegasus to more adventurous designs and shifting production to Banbury. From 1991, the boats were produced by the Pegasus Marine group in Lowestoft until operations ceased in 1997. The firm has released an array of benchmark-setting models such as Pegasus 800, 35 and 600, each delivering a blend of performance, style and comfort on board.
Currently, Pegasus Yachts is not actively manufacturing new boats, but the legacy of the brand endures in the sailing communities around the world. Now primarily based in Suffolk, modern-day Pegasus Yachts serves as a specialist in providing spare parts, advice, and support for existing Pegasus boat owners. The boatyard tirelessly works to keep the timeless designs of Pegasus Yachts sailing smoothly, underlining their commitment to customer service and maintenance of their historic brand.
