Frolic 36, classic 1930s styled 2 berth cruiser for inland waterways built in 2014. Currently based on the River Thames but would be equally at home in the Cumbrian Lakes, Norfolk Broads or any other inland waterway.
The Creative Marine Frolic 36 incorporates all the grace and beauty of a fine traditional launch. The hull is hand-laid GRP with Cream gelcoat, reinforced in stern and keel sections. The hull has full-length engine bearers and cross floors bonded in, internally with fore and aft bulkheads likewise. This makes the whole structure extremely rigid. The decks are hand fashioned in marine ply covered in FlexTeek with an outer margin board and rubbing strake which is varnished with a protective brass strip. The cabin has a push button, hydraulically powered central lifting section providing more headroom in the cabin when needed. Inside the cabin there are 2 full-length berths to port and starboard. Towards the aft end there is a galley with a microwave, fridge and sink and in the bow is a toilet with washbasin. Both galley and sink have pressurised hot and cold water. The interior is finished in the style of an Edwardian launch with many subtle features which add to the air of craftsmanship throughout. The aft cockpit area consists of a wrap-around seat with folding table sufficient for 4 to 5 people and this is bounded by an upright varnished coaming. Moving forward, the cockpit has two rear-facing seats, steering by twiller and control console and the drama provided by the exposed Gardner single cylinder engine. Floorboards are of Buffalo boarding for durability. All cabin furniture is of polished brass, such as door locks, knobs and hooks.
