Designed and built as coastal cruiser-racers, the Catalina 27s have been popular entry level day sailers/coastal cruisers/racers, since they were first built in 1971.  They are affordable to buy and keep, and are good-looking boats that sail well, fast but easily controlled.  The hull is constructed of solid fiberglass, and the interior is incredibly spacious.

• Below deck the Catalina 27 is surprisingly light and spacious.  The companionway and hatch is wide, contributing to her spacious feel in the cabin while at anchor. 
• There are berths for six: two in the forepeak,  a port side settee,  a starboard settee that converts to a cozy double berth, and a starboard seagoing quarterberth. 
• Blue upholstery cover the salon settees, and storage shelves lie along their outboard sides. 
• There is a center-line, bi-fold table, that stores on the bulkhead when not in use, maximizing cabin space availabilty.
• Opposite the head is a storage locker.
