About this Custom Andrew Simpson

English

Shindig is a custom built 39ft cruising cutter designed and owned by the British designer and boat builder Andrew Simpson & Associates.  Andrew Simpson is perhaps better known as the associate editor of Practical Boat Owner - a popular yachting publication in the UK.  The design criteria was that Shindig should be easily sailed by two people, with good performance, bright and open interior, easy to maintain with all fastenings and secondary fixtures removable. Good visibility from below and a strong rig. From the cockpit, sails can be easily handled. Below she is well thought out, light and airy in an open plan design.

Accommodations

The layout offers up to 6 berths in 2 cabins + saloon.

There is full standing headroom and good ventilation throughout.

Forward there’s a spacious guest berth for a couple, which doubles as a compartment that serves as a sail locker when not in use. Proceeding aft is the main saloon area with wrap-around seating around a folding drop leaf table. The settees can also serve as bunks. Aft of the saloon is the u shaped galley area to port with stainless steel sinks, gimballed 2 burner stove and oven, top loading frigoboat 12v refrigeration and plenty of storage. To starboard, a stand-up chart table with sea berth below it. The ‘owners cabin’ aft to starboard has a large double berth with stand-up headroom and a large bunk. Opposite to port is the heads compartment with a huge space  for storage immediately behind it. Apart from general stowage this is where the Katadyn reverse osmosis water maker lives.

Original 2002 Yanmar 3JH2E 36hp engine, engine hours unknown but generally appears to be in good condition, Kanzaki gearbox drives a stainless steel shaft via an Aquadrive thrust bearing assembly. Fitted with an oil filled shaft seal unit and a Flexofold prop.
