Mermaid is an Aleutian 51 cutter rigged sloop built in Taiwan in 1976. She is a powerful and solidly built heavy displacement bluewater cruising yacht that has been maintained in beautiful condition by her current owners of more than 20 years.

She’s a veteran cruiser with tens of thousands of blue water miles under the keel. She is very sturdy and heavy with a thick fiberglass hull and long, deep keel providing a comfortable ride. Her unique design has a center cockpit with the steering and navigation stations covered by a hard dodger and stratoglass that can be rolled down to keep out the rain as well as a small, aft cockpit with storage under the seats, a swim step and shower that is ideal for taking a dip at anchor or hauling in a fish.

Below decks Mermaid is old school with gleaming teak covering most of the walls and a teak and holly floor. There is ample space which makes her a very comfortable liveaboard. The spacious salon has over six feet six (1.95m) of headroom and comfortably seats seven adults. Forward there are two staterooms with bunks and a head. Off the salon is a nav desk with single side band radio and the entrance to the engine room where Henry, the reliable Ford Lehman 120 horse power diesel engine, a Kohler diesel generator, 45 gallon an hour water maker, battery bank and other systems live. Also off the salon you enter a pass through galley with a large refrigerator and pantry and plenty of storage. The galley leads you back to the master stateroom. The master stateroom has a double bed on starboard and an L shaped settee to port. There are two hanging lockers and a large aft cabinet as well as shelving. There is also an en-suite master head with a shower, The door in the aft stateroom takes you out into the aft cockpit.

She has central heat and air conditioning as well as an Engle freezer. She has everything needed for cruising comfortably… autopilot, MackPack lazy bag for the main sail. Fans, lots of opening ports and with the enclosed cockpit and door in the aft stateroom, there is still plenty of nice even when closed up due to rain.

Mermaid has also been measured and has the paperwork for Panama Canal transits.
